I don’t have it handy but the official U.S. Army figures show just about a two to one ratio.
I even wrote a letter to the editor of the Tulsa paper around 1974, correcting a story they printed. They acknowledged that I was correct.

And a lot of them were Irish immigrants hussled off one boat and on to another bound for US Army training camps, lured with a promise of a new suit of clothes and a pittance pay.
When you have nothing but the clothes on your back and poor as a rock, must have seemed a good deal, until that is, they were marched into battlefields as cannon fodder.
