States like Maryland and Missouri freed slaves, without compensation, in late 1864 - early 1865. And the 13th Amendment freed any that were left, also without compensation. So at the end of the day the YANKEE SLAVE HOLDERS INCLUDING BLACK SLAVEHOLDERS were affected too.
Yankees, not southerners made FORTUNES off the Slave trade as did FOREIGN companies.
Southerners were involved in the slave trade. And, of course, Southerners made a fortune off the slaves they bought.
Had the south, an agricultural economy,been recompensed for their losses so that they could buy agricultural machinery at UNTAXED(Tariff) prices, the war would never have happened.
I have no idea what point you're aiming at here. But I think you're missing it by a wide margin.
