Protesters in South Carolina have begun burning Confederate flags and defacing monuments as the debate as to whether or not the flag should fly over the state's capital intensifies in the wake of Wednesday's brutal massacre that saw nine people murdered because they were black.

So - they declared themselves free.
Just as the thirteen original colonies did. They declared themselves free from the rule of George III.
They freely joined a union. At that time where was it written that they couldn’t change their minds?
Can you clarify?
It's, it's.....
A JACKASS!!
They had God to go before, is the issue here.
It just hits me as so much exquisite irony. Their judgment came from God not from men.
My great-grandfather was supposedly a cavalry officer in the South, although he left there after the end of the war and went back to England (he refused to surrender). He wouldn’t have given a rip about slavery; he was actually British but was living in Savannah at the beginning of the war and signed up to defend his then home. The understanding of my family has always been that my great-grandfather felt Lincoln abused his power and that was the real reason for the start of the war and Lincoln was responsible for what happened thereafter. He couldn’t stand Lincoln, and someone talking about Lincoln, even many years later, was enough to set him off.
Of course he is, and like I said, it won't end well.
They were also gospel literate enough to know that they would need a special blessing if they were to carry it off. Jesus already warned about kings going to war needing to have a realistic accounting of their forces.
It was not until the South was purged of not only slavery but of Jim Crow that it began to go truly right, in our modern era.
Not all Southernors were/are democrats. The Confederate flag may mean one thing, and one thing only, to you, but for some it encompasses an entire heritage.
Most of us honor our heritage, even though none of our ancestors were perfect. Today I honor my Dad. If the only thing you knew about him was his biggest flaw, you might be offended by my respect for him, as you are by Southernors’ respect for their fathers.
In case you have missed it, whites are being attacked on almost a daily basis. At the very least we will have more riots in the coming months fueled by the left.
If the rioters head in to a non-black area to rob, loot and burn, they may get more then they bargained for.
Thousnds? Probably democRATs.
and thousands of whites who did not
Probably not RATs.
Some may have protested the abuses, nonetheless they still got ran over by the North in the Civil War.
Proximity works unwanted effects sometimes.
You really like to speak for the Lord a lot don’t you?
Would that be Jesus or his Father?
“Massachusetts never outlawed slavery until after the War of Agression.”
Uh, I believe MA was the first “state” to outlaw it?
I recall that at the Constitutional Convention, it was the only state that had done so.
Perhaps I am remembering wrongly.
Sorry, but this is the same exact gripe blacks and anti-American liberals use about America, in general. Endless griping about slavery and the Hypocrisy of the Founders. I.e., America is evil - except during the Civil War. (Please note who always looks at it that way.) Liberals love Lincoln, BTW.
Yet, much more miraculously than people who do not study the RevWar know, the US came to be within a short time.
The thing is, the US flag is the flag of slavery, too. The Confederate flag is no more the flag of slavery than the US flag. The Confederacy fought for the same freedoms as the US during the war for independence. Even after the Confederacy was defeated, slavery legally existed in the US for months.
Thousands?
Yes. Thousands of blacks owned slaves. There were over 3,000 blacks in New Orleans alone who were slave owners. Some blacks in the south owned hundreds of slaves. Some were slave breeders. They sold their own children into slavery.
It's really not about the flag.
***C’mon...this shit is getting tiresome after twenty years of the same old ‘civil war is coming!’***
Yawn, They have been saying the same since 1968.
But I went to school with males my whole life and they sat beside me in my history classes. I actually listened and care about history. The males in my classes typically goofed off in history during middle school and high school. That being said, they also typically did better than I did in math. I cannot do math to save my life. I did know a few males in my grade who could match my obsession with history, and I knew several students, male and female, who couldn’t care less about history.
....”These protest organizers are the same ones from Ferguson and Baltimore.....It’s really not about the flag”....
Exactly. ...thank you.
