Sen. Sessions: Slow Fast-Track Now, Before It’s Too Late
Breitbart ^ | 6-21-2015 | Jeff Sessions

Posted on 06/21/2015 5:21:05 PM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

Fast-Track, or Trade Promotion Authority, will receive a final cloture vote in the Senate on Tuesday morning. This is the bill that passed the House. If cloture is invoked, the bill will pass the Senate and go to the President’s desk.

More than four weeks have passed since the Senate first voted on whether to grant the Executive six years of fast-track authority. In that time, an enormous amount has been discovered about how the President plans to use this authority – information that was either not known or understood when the vote was held. This includes the Administration’s pledge to use the agreement to impose “environmental governance.”

That’s completely false. TPA requires any trade agreement that uses it be made public at least 60 days prior to an up or down vote on the trade agreement. Therefore, the American people will have a chance to contact their representatives in Congress about their preferences.

That’s a straw argument. We don’t need TSA to see a trade agreement. There is this other document you may have heard of called the Constitution. I can assure you Congress sees all trade agreements before they vote on them.

Why is Ted Cruz supporting the fast tracking of the totally secret Obama TiSA/TTIP trade agreements? Please answer that question.

Great to see you, FRiend. (Even if I disagree with you on this.)

See what happens? You take off for awhile and the whole place goes to hell in a handbasket. :-)

My understanding is that as a practical matter passing TPA means exactly that: the supposedly yet-to-be negotiated deals will pass.

Winner winner, chicken dinner. 51 votes in the Senate and 218 in House is a breeze for Team K Street. Obama has 42 votes from the black caucus in his back pocket if needs them. He’d prefer of course to have the GOP carry his water and drive a wedge through their base.

If Sessions is this worried, we should all be worried. He is a serious Statesman, not a politician.

That is the part that is MOST curious.

WHy would the GOP support a bill that they have
to pass to read?
Did they not learn from ObamaCARE?

WHy would the GOP be so utterly stupid as to defy their
voters, take the blame for this bill,
and at the same time increase the probability
of the DESERVED death of their lying party,
while making further erosion of the US Constitution?

You should wait until the TPP and the other trade agreements are made public before concluding or speculating what’s in them.

I have a firm confidence in Obama to harm the United States in every way he can. What's been leaked so far confirms this expectation.

Ok smart guy, if you’re such an expert on why members of Congress vote they way they do, then ANSWER THE FRICKING QUESTION HERE:

WHY DID SENATOR JEFF SESSIONS VOTE ‘Y-E-S’ ON THE SECRET IRAN DEAL WHICH IS TRULY TREATY-LIKE MATERIAL?

Hmmm? What’s you answer? C’mon!

Until it is made officially public, it’s all speculation.

They are bought and paid for by the Chamber of Commerce and this bill has things in it they want. I did hear Sessions on Hannity radio show a couple of days ago explaining this. Others just hear “free trade” and believe it must be good. That is what he said.

You’re not assuring anything. In fact your answer shows you’re a nobody in this game. Sorry to inform you but that’s a fact.

TPA was crafted many decades ago and was killed by Harry Reid who wanted to take it away from GW Bush.

THE FACT IS THAT NO NATION WANTS TO DEAL WITH THE CLUSTER F*CK THAT IS THE US CONGRESS ON ANY TRADE DEAL. THAT’S A FACT. Because Congress amends, and amends and amends until foreign trade delegations throw their hands in the air and scream “I’m outta here!.”

THE PROBLEM IS NOT TPA! THE PROBLEM IS OBAMA!

If Ted Cruz was President, you would see Senator Jeff smiling, sweet talking, chuckin and jivin that President Cruz needs that TPA and boy oh boy is he going to vote for TPA so that President Cruz can approve some high-demand American products for export that will in turn create millions of jobs. For example, the excess crude from the present oil glut inside the USA that Obama refuses to allow to be exported.

But in 2017 when Senator Jeff is falling all over himself and gushing his support for TPA for President Cruz, it will take a new vote AND IT WILL TAKE 60 CLOTURE VOTES IN THE US SENATE which the democrats will never give over to President Cruz. This is why Ted Cruz’ Texan constituents are pushing him to get the TPA now because he won’t be getting it later!

Already answered above, and in several times in this thread and several several several times in similar threads. If you haven’t learned by now, you got a learning problem.

The answer is simple. The GOP want all this awful stuff done on the kenyan’s watch to give themselves a sliver of deniability.:”We din do nuffin, Obama did it.”

It’s clear now why Cromnibus was critical. The GOP have a full plate for the next year. Obamatrade, amnesty, new immigrant worker program, etc., etc. And then for the desert the GOP will go ahead and “fix” Obamacare for us, just you wait and see.

You apparently don’t understand that 51 < 60. Sorry FRiend, I’m not the one with the learning problem.

Being corrupt is one thing. But all of the people saying “Oh, Sessions is soooo trustworthy on trade”...well, he has a record on things like CAFTA. That was my point.

Ah, no we aren’t reaching back in time. So, since the TPA vote was back in time...should we not look at that one either?

Don’t you tell me what I don’t understand. I UNDERSTAND PERFECTLY.

A trade deal without TPA requires 60 cloture votes in the Senate, not 51.

WHAT YOU HAVE TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING is that no nation will deal with 535 arguing members of the US Congress in trying to nail down a trade agreement!

So your 60 v. 51 is a fantasy when it comes to international trade. It never gets done that way because the other parties walk away. Got it?

Either ignorant or purposeful about telling lies - or just really delusional.

Who do you see as your ideal candidate and how much financial support are you pouring in to their coffers? Or, are you just a blowhard that thinks the real job is to trash the conservatives and abet the Left and has only words to offer because everything else is just too hard and inconvenient?
