Some questions come to mind:
1. Why would anyone expect Boehner to NOT use the power he has to punish Republicans who vote with the Democrats?
If he’s “bad”, he WOULD use that power. If he’s “good”, he SHOULD use that power.
2. Why would Meadows think that voting WITH the Democrats to block DEBATE — unless a pork-laden transportation bill is passed FIRST — would somehow “send a message”? How about eMail? How about debate? How about a face-to-face “message” delivered at, you know, a MEETING?

FRiend, you don’t seem to understand what is happening here.
Voting for the rule motion is basically the House version of cloture.
Boehner is bullying conservatives who do not support a bill (like TPA) into voting for the rule motion. Then the REPUBLICAN SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE does an end around the GOP caucus conservatives and uses DEMOCRATS to pass the bill.
IMO, if Boehner is going to use Dems to pass a bill he should have to beg Pelosi for some votes on the rule. He won’t do that because it’s hugely embarrassing for a Speaker not to have control of his party. It’s much easier for Boehner to browbeat and bully the few genuine conservatives we have left into supporting his actions.
I’m sad to see a FReeper approve of his bullying tactics, apparently.
