I am from the Midwest. My state was divided. I see the confederate flag as a symbol of freedom, a call to escape from the tyranny of a centralized government monster that daily grows to oppress those that want to be left alone to live their own lives.

What value has preserving the union had? It was a political construct that led to brother killing brother, Americans killing Americans. Political constructs, pieces of paper, are they really worth more than human lives?

I'm a native of Iowa, and have lived in the "North" all my life (except for a brief stint in Florida). Yet the older I get, and the more I see this Leviathan government spiraling out of control, the more sympathy I have for the Southern Cause. I truly wonder sometimes whether the wrong side won.

And when CWII breaks out, there is no doubt in my mind which side I'll be on this time.

Ending slavery for one thing...your argument is somewhat bizarre given that context.

And the Confederacy attacked the United States first.

And it appears the Confederate Flag was not raised until 1962 in SC - hardly had been there as a symbol of heritage and given the events of that particular time, probably wasn’t put there for that reason.

Some of the arguments
