I like Rush and wish him all the best.
But I don’t listen to him anymore - he’s essentially ceased to be relevant to me.
I get my news from FR - I already know about just about every item he mentions, and, frankly, the analysis here is better than Rush’s take a lot of the time.
A lot of the humor and passion is gone, and I don’t care about football, tea and, to a lesser extent, his books although I do respect him for his children’s books.
He seems to have lost touch either through apathy or being insulated from most Conservatives due to his success.
On top of that, and this seems to be true for all of radio, the commercial saturation has reached the point that listening isn’t worth my time. I tune out the commercials or change the channel, and there’s less and less programming left worth listening too between ad spots, most of which are irrelevant or annoying.
In short, he no longer informs me or entertains me and the format of radio in general is getting to annoying to bother with. That doesn’t leave much reason to tune in.
I download and listen to Rush on my iPod and I think a lot of other do also. That way I get the whole show in one unbroken stream with no ads. It is great! And I can listen to it at any time...walking the dogs, cooking dinner, in the car.
I almost never listen to him any longer. He’s lost his fastball....and age & time have something to do with that. But more to the point: he really never saw what this massive wave of legal & illegal immigration was doing to the demographics of the conservative voting block. He thought all these people, mostly from the third world, who have cascaded in here in the last 40 years, were going to become traditional Americans....instead what happened: 80% of these new comers vote democrat.
He also read the culture wars wrong....we have been losing them since the 60s....he seemed to think things were getting better. After the reelection of Obama, you can see it hit him hard. It finally hit him over the head that we have lost the culture on almost every level....and all his joking about “the last liberal” nonsense was just that. Nonsense.
Nothing lasts forever. He’s had an extraordinary run and is still very successful. He’s the dean of conservative radio talk and likely will be as long as he stays in the game.
Dissent is Patriotic - Cankles Clinton.
Rush will leave when he decides to Retire and not a minute sooner.
BTW - I’m getting tired of seeing Threads with links to Salon.
It is interesting to note that for a guy that is becoming irrelevant, there are 150 posts here. Rush has peaks and valleys after so many years, but he remains doesn’t he.
To all the naysayers on this thread who will never read this post, but I have to get it off my chest anyway. Rush has been and continues to be one of the best, if not the best, conservative voices in our nation today. For all of you people bitching about when he goes “off topic” and delves into football or golf or whatever gives you people heartburn about him......I truly wonder if you really ever listen to him. I am a Rush 24/7 member and am happy to say it. I rarely miss one of his shows. Sure he has “off” days, but he always makes up for it with another fantastic show. As far as Rush being a blowhard, blowbag, egotistical or whatever you poor little pansies don’t like about him.....do what he always tells new listeners. You have to listen to him consistently for 6 months to really get to know him. Is he sure of himself? Absolutely. Is he cocky, absolutely not. I have listened for over 20 years and he has only gotten better with time. He is one of the most caring and giving person there is. I could go on, but I think you get the point. I suggest doing what I do. I listen to Rush for awesome overall political and social issues and insight and then I also listen to Mark Levin for the hardcore political analysis and comprehension. Lastly, this BS about Rush’s ratings going down, the socialist libs have been saying this same crap for years. always false, this is to.
Rush had an infectious zest in the early days and it was fun to see him skewer Congressmen caught robbing the till in the House Post Office scandal, for instance. I still listen to his show at 9am every day, but only with half an ear because of all the stale topics everybody here has been mentioning.
And then when he brings up some topic that might be interesting and I focus attention on the show, it turns out to be a lead-in for one of his advertisers. I have a new rule: whenever he accepts a call from a ten-year-old who adores the time-traveling horse in Rush’s books for kids, I turn off Rush for the rest of the day.
I stopped listening to Rush in the second Dubya administration because he was no longer heckling Congress and the White House, he was an apologist for them. I started listening again during his “Operation Chaos” campaign against Hillary.
Where is the successful left-wing Rush Limbaugh?
This guy is unbelievable! Today, it took EXACTLY less than two minutes to wander off to baseball!
I’m done with him. He’s not relevant anymore
He will hold on longer than they would like.
Rush Revere website? Two if by Tea contest? Country burning? Haney Project? Golden EIB Mic?
Sacred Honor?
Rush isn’t entertaining anymore. No song parodies, no funny fake ads.
And Rush, like Mark and Sean, hasn’t been honest about Hussein. All three of them, and most other talkers, have participated in the Conspiracy of Respectability about the crudely-forged “birth certificate”—the one typed on six different typewriters—and all the other evidence that Hussein is an illegal-alien foreign agent.
Nobody goes to Rush for information anymore. He offers philosophical musings and mildly amusing comments on ephemeral news items.
I’ve not listened to Rush in about six years. He’s boring and transparent. I enjoy the give and take online, better.
Cites Salon and Media Matters. I quit reading right there.
Just wait until the liberals make their own radio station by stealing money from charities. Then he’ll really be off the air...Oh wait. they tried that.
So what are the progressive radio show that have better ratings now?
I alike Rush and listen when I can. But deep down I suspect he is a libertarian gloBULList free trader. Have you ever heard him talk about H-1B visas? or other forms of trade abuses?
Rush’s show has been a thorn in the side of the left for 27 years. Who else has ever had that long of run pissing people off and creating havoc in the political realm?
BFD if his ratings are slipping.
