In the 45-minute “festival of narcissism” that was Donald Trump’s rambling presidential announcement, one particularly nasty passage proved him to be a menace to the Republican Party. It was the one about Mexican immigrants.
The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. [Applause] Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
That plays well with many far-right Republican primary voters desperately clinging to an America that no longer exists. But such rhetoric is the death knell for the GOP — and the party knows it. The Republican autopsy of its thumping in the 2012 presidential elections was blunt in its self-assessment. “Asked to describe Republicans,” the report notes on page 8, “[focus group attendees] said that the Party is scary,’ ‘narrow minded,’ and ‘out of touch’ and that we were a Party of ‘stuffy old men.’ Sounds like Trump.

He can make a darn good effort to keep any Republican out of the White House.
Yup. I could care less which party label is attached, and that’s why Trump is going to say some things that make the GOP very nervous, but which resonate with many people.
His job may be less to win and more to force some honesty into some others.

Is that the same Republican Party that’s done such an effective job of reigning in Obama? The same Republican Party that defunded Obamacare or that stood strong at preventing the passage of Obamatrade? Without them in power, the country is toast!

30 years ago we easily could have secured our borders and still traded and negotiated in a logical sane manner with the world.

Of course not nick. How one could read that into my comments is beyond me. I can’t stand trump and think he is in way over his head. But he can be a useful idiot at times because he has no fear.
Not that the writer would care, but Trump made the point repeatedly that the transients came from multiple countries.
As far as the immigration thing is concerned, Trump is right on target. And most Republicans AND Democrats know it...
There are many, many rapists, murderers etc. in our prisons. About 30% of the felons in CA prisons are illegal aliens.
The only thing I’m certain of is that the only way to fix this sh&t sandwich we’ve been served is to completely gut DC of the criminals and liars that supposedly work for us. I will not cast another vote for a federal employee. Both parties (actually they are one big party) have completely screwed us.
