Boehner Denies Conservative Amendments to Obamatrade Deal – But Allows Democrats to Amend the Bill
RightWingNews ^ | 18 Jun 15 | Greg Campbell

John Boehner is simply one of the worst Speakers this nation has ever endured. More hostile to conservatives than to far-left liberals, Boehner’s leadership jeopardizes our country more and more each day and his latest slight against conservative efforts to curtail Obama’s powergrabs is simply enraging:

Speaker John Boehner refused to allow conservative Republican amendments to the Obamatrade deal – But he allowed Democrats to amend the legislation. Unbelievable.

Last week, leadership galvanized Jordan and his allies by refusing to allow Republican amendments to TPA, even as they negotiated with Democrats in an attempt to rally enough votes to make up for the GOP defections. “So, the Democrats basically got to amend the process; we didn’t,” Jordan says. “That’s a frustration that members have, as well.”

Jordan had offered to deliver about two dozen votes for TPA, enough for Republicans to pass the bill without Democratic help, on three conditions: that GOP leadership include an amendment that sets up “checkpoints” at which the Republican conference could decide if the trade agreement proceeds; that they kill a union-friendly job-training program for workers affected by the free-trade deal, which Senate Republicans had backed in order to win Democratic votes; and that Boehner promise not to allow a vote on the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. (Jordan wanted Boehner’s word on Ex-Im because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had promised to allow a vote on the bank’s reauthorization in order to get Democrats to drop their filibuster of the trade package.)

In order to avoid having to send the bill back to the Senate, GOP leadership rebuffed all of Jordan’s demands. “They told us to pound sand, so that’s why we did what we did,” says one Freedom Caucus member who joined the procedural revolt.

There is a war on conservatism and make no mistake: this is a war lead by both Democrats and so-called “Republicans.”

I blame ALL the republicans who re-elected him as speaker.

They KNEW this about him... but didn’t have the gonads to replace him.

I totally agree

"our" people are not "our" people....we're soon to be a voting minority...

democracy is finished when the voters realize they can vote themselves more goodies.....we've passed that line quite a while ago...

What do you mean? “Your people” are the ones smashing this fiasco through and sidelining Conservatives and anyone not going along with this fiasco. “Your people” are the ones that you and a determined screamed about sending to DC “No matter what” because they were a “Lesser evil” and better than democrats and a metric ton of other seer fantasy.

You of nearly all people on FR have exactly zero to complain about with Bhoner and his ilk since you trashed anyone opposing liberal republicans like himself, Mitch and especially Romney. We were all America hating Obama lovers or have you so quickly forgotten?

Well you got most of your wish and Mitch and Jonbon are now in full ‘work with Obama’ mode just as they promised during the campaign. And I don’t see any of the long promised ‘feet to the fire’ that we America hating Obama supporters were assured would take place.

We America hating Obama supporters were 100% right about what would happen when these two proud patriots took power. 100%. And you were either 100% wrong as a result or 100% lying. Either way your actions personally, along with those in your crew helped get these boons to America where thy are and as a result, the responsibility for their actions is yours to bear.

So spare us your concern BS and your anger and your selective memory.

The “lesser evil” rationale is a crap-shoot whether one is for or against. Me? I’m against the “lesser evil” argument — it’s a waste of time. I’d rather risk taking deeper losses for the opportunity of real success.

That said, “I told you so” stands on thin ground when it concerns the unknown outcome of not choosing the “lesser evil” — it’s immeasurable.

However bad he is, remember one important thing: a majority of Republican congressmen voted to make him speaker. Not just once, but over and over again through the years, knowing what he was.

IMO, more so those that feared leadership...they were more worried about RE-ELECTION than the U.S. and/or the Constitution.

They, too, should be just as disqualified.

Its far from unsure when Mitch and Jonbon campaigned on working with Barry. It’s far from thin ground when one looks at the record of any RINO. It;s a sure bet.

Interesting thought. For all we know, the ALL have secret Seperate email servers and whatever is on the “legit” government email servers is just garbage for the history books.
