John Boehner is simply one of the worst Speakers this nation has ever endured. More hostile to conservatives than to far-left liberals, Boehners leadership jeopardizes our country more and more each day and his latest slight against conservative efforts to curtail Obamas powergrabs is simply enraging:
Speaker John Boehner refused to allow conservative Republican amendments to the Obamatrade deal But he allowed Democrats to amend the legislation. Unbelievable.
Last week, leadership galvanized Jordan and his allies by refusing to allow Republican amendments to TPA, even as they negotiated with Democrats in an attempt to rally enough votes to make up for the GOP defections. So, the Democrats basically got to amend the process; we didnt, Jordan says. Thats a frustration that members have, as well.
Jordan had offered to deliver about two dozen votes for TPA, enough for Republicans to pass the bill without Democratic help, on three conditions: that GOP leadership include an amendment that sets up checkpoints at which the Republican conference could decide if the trade agreement proceeds; that they kill a union-friendly job-training program for workers affected by the free-trade deal, which Senate Republicans had backed in order to win Democratic votes; and that Boehner promise not to allow a vote on the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. (Jordan wanted Boehners word on Ex-Im because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had promised to allow a vote on the banks reauthorization in order to get Democrats to drop their filibuster of the trade package.)
In order to avoid having to send the bill back to the Senate, GOP leadership rebuffed all of Jordans demands. They told us to pound sand, so thats why we did what we did, says one Freedom Caucus member who joined the procedural revolt.
There is a war on conservatism and make no mistake: this is a war lead by both Democrats and so-called Republicans.
Are we sure the Republicans control the House?
No, but he can be removed as Speaker. Unfortunately, that would take a two-thirds vote.
So all those career politicians be honest and would respect the Constitution if not for those Evil Corporations.
Yeah, that’s exactly what you’re doing.
We can’t afford to just give up on the political process. Not if we want to preserve and defend what liberties we have left.
A McCain ‘conservative.’. Perfectly willing to trash talk conservatives but quick to ‘reach across the aisle.’
Weepy jim has become a democratic party lackey. He has no cajones & is as worthless as a bucked of warm spit.
Boehner is an enemy of the Republic, as are Obama and McConnell.
Spare me.
The lobbyists run DC now. And you know it.
The Republican caucus elected Boehner speaker. They knew how he would lead. They are all responsible.
They do not speak for me.
I’ll never forget when I warned about here about Boehner when the republican retook control of Congress, and some of the pathetic water bucket carriers around here called me a Nazi.
I remember writing my supposedly conservative congressman to vote against Boehner, but he didn’t. He sent a pathetic response about ‘no one’ opposing Boehner ‘soon enough’, so there really wasn’t any choice.
I gagged.
Last week he received my second letter about TPA. The 2nd was to call him a quasi-conservative for his support of this crap sandwich TPA.
