If a parent teaches their kid right from wrong, there is no issue. Tens of millions of kids grew up with real guns, used them regularly around other kids hunting and never shot each other for kicks. Because parents taught right and wrong.
I do get your point. But I did get taught right from wrong and play the most violent games out there. I have no desire to go on a Fallout style purging because right and wrong are core to my being. Modern kids are no different.

But they are fundamentally different. We were taught RIGHT from WRONG based on a morality that was passed down through the generations. We trusted our parents and grandparents to tell us what was right and wrong.
My grandfather had a glass front gun cabinet with no lock and 27 grandchildren. He died in 1982. My grandmother died in 2001. By then, my cousins and I were all in our late 30’s to late 50’s and most of us were in the house one night talking. One of us looked at the gun cabinet (that had gone unopened for 19 years) and someone said, “I want to open the gun cabinet.” We all agreed. None of us could do it because Grandpa told us to never open that door. Our respect for the man’s orders lasted that long.
Today, kids are taught by their parents that they are the center of the universe. Every time a parent jumps up and runs when the kid calls to demand a pickup or some last minute class project, their superiority is reinforced. You can’t teach them right from wrong because they get to decide for themselves. They laugh at our “black and white” morals.
