Face it, Trump is hoping everyone (especially Cruz supporters) forgets how Google works just long enough to keep Cruz out of the debates.
He flooded conservative forums everywhere recently with Fast Track BS knowing that Cruz is sympathetic to free trade (as is nearly everyone else running by the way)
The object was to magically turn a vote for fast track (which has been basically rubber stamped for decades) into a issue of monumental importance, enough alone in fact to disqualify a candidate from consideration by any real conservative.
Then his minions were to attack Cruz relentlessly and only Cruz over this made up issue (even though nearly all the other candidates also support it) while simultaneously posting glowing articles about how strong Trump is on this issue of massive importance (all just made up on the fly of course)
This need only work long enough to allow Trump to get just enough traction to push ahead of Cruz in the polls and hopefully help to push him off the stage completely (which was the goal all along)
By the time the conservative who were duped remember how to use google and figure out that Trump is left of Hillary, his mission (to push Cruz off the stage) will have been completed.
You're more optimistic than I when you say Trump's fans might use google to learn the truth about him.
Hell, some of us have been putting it out here for days, and now there it is from Club for Growth. But they just don't want to hear it.

Wow. You got me. I admit it. I signed up on FR in 2004 on the off chance that some obscure politico in Texas would run for the Presidency in 2015. I bided my time, posting over 10,000 times, lying in wait. And then when Ted Cruz ran for President I further covered my tracks by supporting him and contributing to his campaign so when the time was right I could turn on him.
I planned it all along. All so I could help keep Ted Cruz from being in the top 10 and eligible for the debates.

Some of the Cruz supporters are almost obsessive in their belief that the sun rises and sets around Ted. Do you REALLY believe that Trump has "minions" here or on other forums out to trash Ted Cruz?
Why would he bother?
Ted's in about 5th place in most national polls. He's the least likely person for Trump to attack.
Did you listen to the announcement? He takes on Rubio by name several times. I'm pretty sure he views Rubio as the front runner, as do many pundits.
Ted is going to make the debates, he's solidly getting about 8% to 10%, far above the whole third tier, which is where Trump is today.
The competition for Trump making the debates are Christie, Perry and Santorum, and maybe Fiorina. That's the group of candidates in the 1.5% to 3.5% range. Of that group only two will likely get to the debates. Right now Trump's in 9th place, so if he can hold that position he's in the first debate.
But still back-of-the-field strategy is attack the leader, not the other back-field candidates, and that is what Trump is doing.
There has always been both Free Trade and anti Free Trade contingents here on Free Republic. This goes all the way back to the Buchanan supporters back in the Clinton era. The opposition to Cruz's TPA/TPP position is completely organic, and many of it has come from long established Freepers.
It's disingenuous to claim all the opposition to Cruz's positions is drummed up by Trump, and delusional to think the Trump is focused on Cruz over Jeb, Rubio and Walker, who are the first tier candidates.
It's turning into an interesting election season.
