Just some things to consider, first her diet, keep a food diary or just eat 4 or 5 things for a week and then add one thing at a time.
Second thing would be depression and/or anxiety. I know because our family is rife with it and it does cause swallowing problems. I’ve been working with both my granddaughters this year, they are both in college and are terrified of failing. They get sick every time they have a major test and they are both A students.
My granddaughter had trouble breathing too and I finally realized that she would start thinking about breathing and then everything would get out of rhythm. She just thought she couldn’t breath but I noticed that it often happened when she was around smokers and realized that she has been so brain-washed she thought she was going to die or something.
It really isn’t the smoke, it was the panic of being in the presence of smoke.
