Some people naturally gravitate towards the most clownish candidates. They want showmen, not statesmen.

If Trump wants to help the conservative cause, he'd be better off spending his own fortune trying to get a plausible conservative candidate like Cruz or Walker elected. Instead, he wants to play at the "Look Who's Running for Prez" reality show. It's all one big Reality Show with "the Donald" as the self-appointed star.

The odd thing is that almost anyone could probably get more votes than Donald Trump if they started out with the same amount of money. I’m not saying that would be a lot of votes, but more anyway. Even so, I would say give the guy a chance to develop a full platform and see if he’s any better or worse than whoever turns out to be the front runner by spring. America could do worse, and in fact has done worse at least twice and perhaps many other times.

You would hate to be the running mate, however.

If he were serious he would have seen what FReepers have seen for 20+ years. He would have funded and campaigned with candidates who believe in the rhetoric he’s spewing today. But he didn’t.

He’s here to hold the mushy TEA Party voters, stop a real conservative from threatening Jeb or Hillary and then drop out a la Perot. That he’s being taken seriously is evidence of the decline.

Unlike Cruz and Walker Trump is against Obamatrade. Unlike them Trump is on the right side there. Trump also seems to understand immigration some here.

So what the rest of the world has already seen a clown, how is that working for us?
