Trumps father made his fortune building blue and white collar worker housing. Trump wanted to build big fancy stuff in Manhattan contrary to his father’s advice. Trump could make an interesting impact if he decided to tackle the low cost housing deficit in this country. Many think this is only an inner city issue, but there are many poor white, conservative, Christian people who also feel marginalized by the big money boys and lack of decent low cost housing. The problem is that almost all developers want to build big and fancy in the Trump vein. If it doesn’t have granite counters and stainless steel appliances it is almost impossible to have it built.

He would NOT be firing left and right. Have you ever heard of the federal civil service protections? We definitely need to look at cost/effectiveness of federal programs. Nice that he would not be beholden to donors.

Low cost housing isn’t the government’s business to tackle in the first place. If citizen Trump wants to make a go of it, thats a beautiful thing. If President Trump wants to make a go of it, he’s little different from President Clinton who forced banks to lend for homes low income people could not afford.

They got the housing and we got a financial crisis.

A billion dollar president has many holdings. Blind trust or no, when that president makes unpopular choices with business, those businesses stop ‘doing business’ with the blind trust and the Billionaire President is suddenly poorer with his legacy trashed.

It’s blackmail with a different set of tools. He is probably more susceptible than the rest because of his wealth.

Hard to argue with what he said.

And no one else is saying it. Straight talk, right up front. Makes the rest appear to have been bought off.

Have you ever heard of the federal civil service protections?

Is it impossibly to dramatically reduce the size and scope of government waste/programs?

Isn't that what the conga-line of career government politicians have told us about our lawless borders for the past 3 decades?

If it gets down to Trump vs Hillary I’m voting for Trump.

Glad to hear it!

But if that's what it gets down to, we are so screwed!

The United States use to have a garment industry. Moved out after free trade agreements.

Good riddance to it!

Maybe, with a decent dollop of robotics, it can move back in. But that remains to be seen and should be determined by the consumers, not the voters!

Their labor cost was around $10.00 per hour and plants in Asia were paying about $0.50 per hour or less, twenty or so years ago. And sewing is fairly labor intensive.

Sewing isn't something humans were meant to do. And, hopefully, soon they won't have to.

“He may know business, but does he know the Constitution? Does he know how government works?A CEO and a President are two very different things.”

We have numerous experts on government with decades of combined experience running things right now. Harry Reid, John Boehner, Mitch Mcconnell all have many years of experience. Do you think they’re doing a good job?

Yes, a CEO is different from President. If you fail as a CEO, you typically lose your job and are generally forgotten. If you fail as President, you get multimillion dollar book deals and a foundation and a library.

On second thought, perhaps he’ll just turn it into a zombie. They’re easier to control.

“Preservation of open space.” I wonder why a big real estate developer would want open space preserved. /sarc

Yes, he makes more sense than the bought and paid for politicians which is pretty much the rest of the field. Super tough in immigration. He’d be a tough commander in chief without starting conflicts like Obama’s haram engages in (Ukraine and that’s just one example) OBAMA’s started everything that set the world on fire.

“But that remains to be seen and should be determined by the consumers, not the voters!”

Voters had nothing to do with the companies being enticed to leave U.S. shores. It was corrupt politicians, stupid trade agreements, government regulations, taxes, etc.

Walker, Cruz, Paul, and a host of others. Let’s not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Any GOP candidate is going to be better than a Democrat. That’s proven history from Ike on.

More critical to our nation is electing the most conservative Congress we can. We’ve got one already and we need to work to increase those majorities. That will involve urban outreach and electing RINOs.

Off-shoring comes from a tax and regulatory policy that hurts American enterprise.
