Establishment Republicans desperately trying to secure the passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), which would give President Obama fast-track authority to secure congressional approval of at least three secretive trade deals, are now willing to increase taxes on small businesses in a way that would violate a pledge almost every Republican Congressman has taken when elected into office.
To secure final passage through Congress of a package that would include TPA fast-track authoritywhich would ensure finalization of the secretive Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) and Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA), among other dealsthe House would need to pass the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) package that was necessary for Senate passage of TPA. The House voted TAA down 302-126 with widespread bipartisan opposition to last week, but House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)and his allies in House GOP leadership have pledged that they will try to pass it again early next week. The vote would potentially be on Monday, but more likely on Tuesdayand if there is no vote by Tuesday, its unlikely that Ryan will be able to succeed in his ploy to revive TPA.

And any candidate that says he will not increase debt also bears close watching. Elizabeth Warren is too far left for a lot of people, but I really sat up and took notice when she said while attending TPP meetings, not only were there no handouts, but they were not even able to record, and I think she also said could not take notes. What’s up with all that?
The distinction between republican and democrat is utterly meaningless. It’s all one party, the uniparty, the party of caesar.
Vote and be a part of it.
wow. that is one amazing article. it’s almost like an honest to God, true conservative wrote it. i didn’t know there were any of those in journalism. this really is obamacare (broken up for obfuscation) GOP style.
the GOP in terms of conservatism has been dead, imo, since at least 2010, but this underlines it.
the real bosses of the GOPe wrote these sneaky bills. they’ll never really show their faces to the likes of you and me, but it’s instructive to get a peek at them and their real agenda(s) in these massive bills. many of them probably work both political parties to their advantage.
suffice it to say, the cronies of the GOPe usually employ a different style—no less efficient—of exploiting or destroying working class Americans and their small businesses, but i guess when push comes to shove, any leftist club, including direct taxation, will have to do.
Hear, hear!
How many times must Evidence be presented that
Boehner = Obama = McConnell = Obama
Obama = Cruz = Obama = Ryan = Obama.
These arrogant, greedy, lying RINO phonies
are the Dolezal’s of conservatism, as they
support SECRET Agreements, unread bills,
and SECRET tax increases.
LOL...typical cop out. You bash Cruz as opposed to others based on information that isn’t true, and yet, you don’t have the courage to say what is your agenda. typical
Yes, they are NOW going for it...
That might change Ted’s opinion since they didn’t do this before.
Look, I know trolling hard, but you do know the difference between before and now, right?
I sorry to rain on anyone’s “group-rant-parade”, but, IMHO, the few facts reported in the Breitbart article do NOT support the “red meat” headline that the GOPe is “scheming” to impose a new “tax” on small business.
Instead, Breitbart reports that the FINES imposed on any business that files its required 1099 forms LATE will be significantly increased. I conclude the IRS is “scheming” to tighten the screws on our “cash economy”.
What explains the difference between the article and the headline?
Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy “reporting”....
A “fee” is NOT a “tax”. “Any business” is NOT just “small business”. An “increase” in a fine on reports filed late is NOT a “scheme to tax”.
Of course, you are free to debate whether any business that hires another business — OFF THE BOOKS — should be permitted to keep its cash payments to that other business a secret from the IRS...
...but shouldn’t you conduct that debate in Spanish?

It does in the sense that we have to choose among good/great but imperfect candidates, not against a non-existent perfect candidate.
Actually, your tagline heralds the correct way.
It’s going to take some surgical finesse to pull it off.

Just be transparent...pretty simple.
Hi Diogenesis,
Thanks for the links to WiliLeaks.
I think you and I already agree that whatever Obama negotiates for these two so-called “free trade” bills will be full of rules and legalisms that will actually hurt American trade — and America, itself.
And I think you and I already agree that there is no point in even asking for one-vote-up-or-down on a so-called “trade bill” that mixes tariff reductions on American products (which we want) into a devil’s brew of tax increases, regulatory “rule” increases, and an assault on American sovereignty.
I’m afraid that Obama is trying to “bait-and-switch” this bill past the GOP’s current leaders. I’m sorry but it looks to me as if those leaders think that the limits and instructions they place within the TAA “law” will actually be respected by Obama’s goons.
Bwah-ha-ha!
So, IMHO, Senator Cruz is RIGHT: Make the so-called “trade agreements” 100% public BEFORE Congress votes again on the TAA! Otherwise, let the “NO!” stand.
And a TAA suporter. The Senate bill that passed contained both TPA and TAA. The House decided to separate them with TPA passing and TAA being defeated. In order for this bill not to go back to the Senate, the House must pass TAA. If it does then the bill goes to Obama's desk.
I suspect that the House Dems are holding TAA hostage until they get some other concessions from the Reps who desperately want TPA and the "free trade" bills that flow from TPA.
Again, the Senate bill contained TAA, which raises the question as to why Congress should pass a trade bill knowing it will cause a loss in American jobs requiring retraining, which never works.
The House Dems will come onboard once they wring some more concessions out of the Reps. We are being treated to some more political theater.
Yes its only June and the GOPe are already squandering their majority like there is no 2016 coming. I predict that a totally disgusted republican base just sits home. Can you say Democrat Senate and President Clinton?
