Like the liberal yankee white boys who try to play black blues— “if I could only have been BORN black, then I could really play the blues” ... or the corollary— “you can’t play the blues if your not black” .

Seriously, both memes exist in blues music— as ridiculous as that is.

There are SOME exceptions to that... The best example being Johnny Winter (and you can't get much "whiter" than Johnny, or brother Edgar :-) ), who Muddy Waters referred to as "My son."
