The Sunday Times has deleted a paragraph claiming Greenwald’s partner visited Snowden prior to being detained in the UK. See update. What a crappy article.

No one needs to damage Snowden’s credibility.

I think the story about Russian and Chinese agencies having to crack the passwords is bogus. If they wanted the passwords and they had their hands on Snowden, they have ways of making him talk but they didn’t have to... he gave it to them.

They can do whatever they want to malign him. As far as I'm concerned, his actions have been a great boon to us average citizens. I don't particularly care what his motivation was. We now know that many of the former 'conspiracy theories' whispered in secret were, in fact, fact. Secrecy is the bane of a republic, and should be limited to only that which is absolutely necessary. Sometimes secrecy is necessary. The problem is, when you wrap everything up secrecy and lies, no one believes you when you say something needs to be secret. The Feral U.S. government has long lost any claim whatsoever to being an honest player in anything.
