Honestly, to me, that is enough. She was shot because she was serving her country. I might not agree with the exact form that service took, and I certainly don’t agree with all of the ideas she expressed in that, but to me that is the bottom line.

I don’t see any reason to name a ship after her - thousands of others have been shot in the service of their country who will never get anything like that level of acknowledgement, but in a world where there are crazy people who will go after a politician just because they are a politician, I do think there is some courage and honour in choosing that path if you do it because you want to make your country better (whether I agree with what you want to do or not).

Fully expecting and even welcoming any negative comments that come my way on this. But I think one massive problem in modern politics is a failure to respect everything about our opponents, just because we have real disagreements with them on some issues.

I’m in her district. Let’s just say she had NO interest in the people in her district. She was Pelosi’s Mini-Me. Running for reelection, she boasted of the VFW endorsing her. In point of fact, its PAC did until the rest of the VFW forced the PAC to back down. She forgot to mention that on her signs.

A nut job shot her. He might have shot someone on the city council if she hadn’t turned up. Or most anyone else. He hated GWB. He also hated religion. The nut killed 6 people and wounded 13. Gabby was one of the 13 wounded.

I read your posts and respect your opinions, but I could not disagree more strongly with you than I currently do.

First, she should never have had a ship named after her. Never. It is a slap in the face of every person who has honorably served their country. I would rather have seen the ship named after a random sailor serving a long deployment, since I think that sailor has done more for his country than she ever did.

What has she done? Voted for a bill to fund military equipment? Once?

Worked towards “immigration reform” as the Democrats of today see it? In that case, she is/was a political hack who is working towards the destruction of this country.

As a person, I don’t know her, and that isn’t my concern. I am sorry she was hurt by some liberal Nietzsche worshiping liberal whack-job, I really am, I don’t wish ill fortune on her physically. She was an elected official, that is the best thing any average citizen could say about her.

And they name a ship after her.

One might say it is only the naming of a ship. And so it is.

But the meaning behind all of this, the craven, politicizing by scumbags who are the Democratic party of today of which she was a member, who wouldn’t want to “let a crisis go to waste”, and the repellent thing is, she is right on board being used as an object in this fashion by these wretched excuses for American citizens, never mind human beings in general.
