Being a proponent of delayed satisfaction, I always back my truck in the parking space. My fav spots are where there is no driving space behind the truck. If worse comes to worse, the rear of the truck is blocked by the vehicle parked behind me. Unless, of course, there is no vehicle parked behind me.

I have seen SUVs with blacked out windows and license plate scanners mounted on the roof cruising through parking lots. IMHO, that’s invasion of privacy.

I was scanning the replies in this thread and was looking to see someone actually state the whole “invasion of privacy” claim...

Now, before anyone gets their panties in a wad, lemme first say a part of me agrees with this idea, and these supposed scans of parking lots outside in public parking lots in front of private businesses is a bit disturbing, if not just for the question of really why they are doing this, if that is what they are doing...We really don’t know unless someone who has done this actually comes out and says they did it, and tells us who and why they are doing it...

I’m holding out final judgment until it is confirmed...

But the other part of me tells me what can you really do about it???

You are out in public...This is already done at most toll road automatic tag, or “fee lanes”...Where you have a transponder chip or card that is read as you pass thru the toll booth...

In Houston is used to only happen when your vehicle passed thru, and it di not read the tag...It took your picture and if you didn’t have an existing or current account, the toll road authority sent you a fine, after the license plate was investigated and your address found...

In these alleged parking lot cases, I just see you parking in a public place, and someone scanning and recording the information...What they do with that information, is left to be seen...

They should at least have the sense of humor to put a fake rotor on top of those blacked-out SUVs. We can call them “black suvicopters”.
