For those who refuse to do their homework...here is the HISTORY of TPA. That Damn Cruz...sold us out. Oh, wait...
so called trade promotion authority (TPA) since 2002, fast track negotiating authority is a temporary and controversial power granted to the President by Congress. The authority was in effect from 1975 to 1994, pursuant to the Trade Act of 1974, and from 2002 to 2007 by the Trade Act of 2002. Although it expired for new agreements on July 1, 2007, it continued to apply to agreements already under negotiation until they were eventually passed into law in 2011. In 2012, the Obama administration began seeking renewal of the authority.
TPA is an unconstitutional delegation of the Senate's power and obligation to approve treaties to the house and the president and specifically changed the voting requirements from 2/3 of the Senate to a simple majority of house and senate. .
Ted Cruz should have opposed TPA on the grounds that no president should have this power and that the method for approving treaties is specified in the Constitution.
But he didn't. Instead he surrendered this power to OBAMA!
[The President] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; Article II section 2
Now where does it say anything in the constitution about the House or a simple majority approving these treaties?
Oh wait, these aren't "treaties", these are "trade agreements". Yeah that's the ticket.
But it only becomes relevant to the Cruz bashers when Ted Cruz voted for it inspite of the fact of how long it’s been in existence.
Another curious thing ?
How come they ain’t bashing Sarah Palin since it was her who campaign for Ted Cruz and supported him ?
My my, that is curious, isn’t it ?
