The City of Spokane announced Thursday it's investigating whether the president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP violated the city's code of ethics in her application to serve on the citizen police ombudsman commission.
Rachel Dolezal serves as chair of the independent commission, in addition to her work as an adjunct faculty member at Eastern Washington University and president of the NAACP local chapter. On her application to serve on the commission, she identified herself as African-American. But public records, including Dolezal's own birth certificate, list her biological parents as Ruthanne and Lawrence Dolezal of Montana. The Dolezals told KXLY Thursday that Rachel is their biological daughter and that they are both white.
On the NAACP Spokane Facebook page, a picture was posted earlier this year showing Dolezal and an African-American man. In the post, he's identified as Dolezal's father. KXLY4's Jeff Humphrey asked Dolezal about that claim Wednesday afternoon.
"Ma'am, I was wondering if your dad really is an African-American man," Humphrey asked.
"I don't understand the question," Dolezal answered. "I did tell you [that man in the picture] is my dad." "Are your parents white?" Humphrey asked. At that point, Dolezal removed the microphone, ended the interview and walked away.

Technically, since humans are believed to have originated in Africa, we are all African-American. We only differ on how recently our ancestors left Africa.
The wonderful, politically incorrect and mind-bending part of this case is — if there were not advantages to African-Americanship, nobody would claim this when he/she was not. If there were some advantage to being white or caucasian, people would claim this advantage when they were not, and AFAIK, nobody who is of color ever claims to be white or caucasian.
What kind of racist would not let her be black if she wants to be?
She said she went black, and couldnt go back.
I fully support her race transformation. What I condemn though are the racist hate crimes her white self committed against her black self, such as hanging nooses.
They didnt originate in Africa. Another fairy tale.
Between the hairdresser who transforms her straight hair into seemingly curly Afro hair, to the tanning salon where she sometime gets her skin colored to look look more ethnic, to her Black in-laws who know she is parading around as a fake Black, not to mention her own white relatives, there have to be scores of people who are aware of the fraud. I first thought she is a pathological liar, but she wasn’t slick enough during the interview. Makes me wonder just how long she has gotten away with the fakery without ever being questioned. And how she sleeps at night...
You win the Internets.
Exactly! Rachel Dolezal should simply change her name from Rachel to... Caitlyn? No, too white. How about Chanika? Yes, Chanika it is! Rather, Chanika it be! She identifies as a sister now, so who are we to argue?
Good one Vince... I suspect the New York Times won't figure out the connection...
Think how insane liberals are. If I were to say “I’m now a black woman” their response would be that I’m half wrong.
== Answer: Is a pigs ass pork? Nuff said! ==
Wrong! The pig feels it is a chicken.
If you can claim that you are another gender because you don’t feel like your actual one, why can’t you do that with race? Why is one construct more sacred than another? I would really like that one explained to me.
But I’ll bet no one can.
She identified another adopted kid brother an African-American youth, like Ezra as her son while perpetuating her tale.
Whatever way you want to describe it.
If govt is going to support one person’s insanity about their gender, why not their race/ethnicity/heritage?
Think it’s not only unethical, but racist to require anyone to “check in the box” what race they are on any form.
Jeremiah was a bullfrog.
