The “other reason” is the US Chamber of Communists and the businesses it represents. They don’t give a flying fig about this country except as it affects their effing wallets. The bribes were not foreign, they were home-grown.
A lot of states, especially in the ag and industrial middle third of the country, do a lot lot of exporting. Everyone knows the economy is very fragile and no one wants to jeopardize those jobs now, even at the chance of long term danger (when today’s politicians will be long gone).
This was a personal defeat for Obama. It would have passed for almost any other imaginable president.
They know the train is leaving. With or without them. And they’ve probably been told as much.
The secret is RINOs are closet Democrats.
Money. It is the only reason they are there in DC in the first place. You need money to win an election. So the money corrupts them. Makes them try to benefit their benefactors. Corporations. Local markets that supported them. Etc.
