The House this morning takes up the bill to authorize Obama to negotiate a Trans-Pacific trade deal. Despite the GOP leadership's support, conservatives may well defeat it: they fell by one vote short last night, on a procedural vote on the rule, that would have killed it. Call your congresscritters to vote NO, and post comments and links here if you wish
According to Paul Ryan, they have enough votes for TPA (fast-track). The concern now is that they won’t be able to get enough for TAA (Trade Adjustment Assistance, that would provide aid and retraining to workers who lose their jobs due to trade agreements), which comes before the TPA vote. And if TAA doesn’t pass, the rest of it falls apart.
TAA is a Dem thing, but they know that fewer Rs support it. So the Dems know they can derail the whole TPA/TPP/TISA train by shooting down their own provisions.
You are of course correct. I disagree with Cruz on this, but at least he has told us where he stands.
“Asked for a call back from Glenn so he can tell me what EXACTLY is in the bill HE WILL BE VOTING FOR today.”
What they are voting on today (TPA/fast-track) is public, and has been posted here and elsewhere many times.

Good point. TAA is a pathetic attempt by the Dems to appease the unions who ain’t buying it anyway.
Personally, I don’t see Jeff Sessions as “shrill”, though he is quite conservative. Jeff is a work horse. He is NOT running for president, though he should be. His warnings are worthy of at least a damn direct ANSWER, from another conservative. Ted Cruz.
That isn’t really too much to ask, given that Sessions history has long given him a reputation for facts over politics, like forever.
Note to Ted:
ANSWER Jeff Sessions. Then come talk to us about this dog of a deal.
Looks like the House is in recess since 9:45 am EST, subject to the call of the Chair.
I’m not speaking of Sessions who I am certain believes Cruz and Ryan to be honorable men but of the maniacs here and around the country who claim anyone who votes in favor of TPA is a traitor and other such nonsense.
“They are NOT voting today on something that does not exist. Something is written in a bill, and it is being kept under tighter security than the Federal Employee Database. They are voting on something they do now wish us to see.”
What they are voting on today is completely public:

Thank you, rainee.
Freepers act as well as speak!
That caller into CSPAN was hilarious. She was going off on them.... said there are too many muslims and comunists in the white house! Among other things.
Ya, people calling in are pissed!
Never used it before. Right now there is no live video, but the microphones are active. Guess they are in recess.
He himself says he is an entertainer. I do not know why people refuse to accept his own words.
emailed and called...FWIW.
Both sides are pissed off....
Emailed my Rep at 0950.
