Ted Cruz Channels Paul Ryan: 'A Lot of Misinformation' on Obamatrade That 'You Can Get on the [net]'
Breitbart ^ | 6/11/15 | Matthew Boyle

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)96%, a 2016 Republican presidential candidate, defended his decision to vote for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) and Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA)—among other deals—during a Thursday interview with the Hugh Hewitt radio program.

Hewitt started his line of questioning with coming out of a commercial. “Let’s take that opportunity, then, to go and talk about free trade—TPA, TPP, Export-Import Bank. Sen. Cruz, for clarity’s sake, can you quickly give us an overview on where you are on those three issues, as there’s quite a lot of confusion among conservative voters as to where different people are and why on each of those three issues.”

“Sure,” Cruz responded. “There is a lot of confusion and, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation you can get on the Internet that people are confused, so let’s explain what each of those three are.”

Cruz, by saying that, was essentially making the exact same claim—blaming the Internet for what he argues is “misinformation”—as House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)60%. Ryan made the claim on Fox News earlier on Thursday in response to Breitbart News reporting highlighted by the massively influential Drudge Report. Ryan, with whom Cruz pushed Obamatrade in a Wall Street Journal op-ed in late April—one that’s been used by Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)40% to try to rally support for Obamatrade—has been essentially discredited by various false statements he’s made throughout this process.

That Cruz would use the same talking points as him is interesting and probably disappointing to many conservatives. That Boehner is using Cruz to push Obamatrade is probably even more disappointing to most conservatives... ...

I think the Country managed fine without your wisdom in candidate qualifications in the past. It was once your type started the nonsense that it really went to hell fast.

Logically, sane people would avoid your method.

My reading AND Understanding is definitely on a higher level than yours. My vote for Romney doesn’t matter because he lost, so I empowered no one. YOU empowered Obama so don’t try to equivocate. Somebody should stick a pin in you to let out some hot air!

Your vote mattered since the GOP saw the support for a liberal and in turn, moved to the left. Thats documented historical fact.

Pastrami on white please. Toasted with a bottle of Tobasco.

I like Ted....I still support him, but I’m not thrilled with some of his ideas on visas allowing more workers in from overseas.

Just reading comments here and what i see is if Cruz is lying he’s tossing away his one hope which is the conservative base.
Thats basically what this comes down to. It’s not whether he can beat Hillary but can he win a few primaries early and stay in the race and by comments here he may as well save his energy. From what i see here the answer is stay home Ted.
For myself i despise the secrecy and i despise the very thought of giving Obama a free hand to do anything since he’s done so little right. I also never fully trust a politician. Their job definition may as well be professional liar.
Still i find it hard to believe Cruz throws his chances away this early. Nobody can promise him anything that equated to the office of the President. It makes no sense at all.

Another poster here postulated that Cruz supported TPA because he wants the fastrack power when (if) he becomes pres. If this is the case that’s deplorable. As for TPP, its secret so who knows...

So, by voting for TPA, aka Fast Track, Cruz is taking a flyer that Obama will produce a useful trade agreement.

If he does, then the Republican Congress will approve it. If not, if Zero proves unable to resist the temptation to lard it up with Progressive nonsense, then Congress will can it, and we can wait until 2017 to negotiate a real trade agreement.

This is good only in a theoretical sense. Obama will load it up with ultra-leftist, pro-illegal, anti-American garbage.

Guess what happens then? McConnell and all other RINOs will rush to approve.

I can't believe Cruz believes Congress would vote down a bad trade agreement. Is he that naive?

Cruz should NEVER have voted for TPA. He rightfully should lose support. He argues the theorectical when the reality is that what Obama will GET approved will brutalize the American worker.

Thanks a lot Cruz for your stupid vote on TPA.

I’m an anti federalist, why would I want to embue the president with more power. Obama’s executive power hasn’t done us a lick of good.

Man, you sure make up a lot of crap about people based on nothing but the fact they disagree with you on one issue.

Someone who thinks that when all the good choices were toast and it came down to Romney v Obama the right thing to do was vote for Obama by throwing their vote away telling other people what's sane and what isn't is a real belly laugh.

Neither has electing liberals with a magic R, but that didn’t stop most of FR and America from voting for one.
