NATO is security theater. Its like the euro - its held together because its a political project, not because it is believed or accepted as necessary among the populations of Europe.
Gosh, if they don’t want to defend eastern European nations that shouldn’t be in NATO to begin with (North ATLANTIC Treaty Organization), I wonder how they feel about their obligations to defend Turkey from say, for example, Iraqi Kurds.
This ends NATO—It gives the Green light to Russia to take thye Baltics anytime they want.—Maybe even Poland! This could be the act that triggers WW III.
I can’t imagine anyone taking on Poland. Aren’t they one of the very few nations in NATO that’s actually invested in an adequate military?

Too bad they didn’t tell us that before we wasted time with the Berlin Airlift. The Rhine might have been a better line for the Iron Curtain.
If they don’t agree with the principle of collective defence, they’d better ramp up their military budget by a considerable margin, because it works both ways. If they aren’t willing to defend others, who is willing to defend Germany?
Did they ever call the US for help, or are they still welcoming those enemies with open arms?
Not that Obama will come rushing to their aid, though. Sounds like his plan—and theirs in many respects, since they more than Obama have the “govern by crisis” outlook.

I think that is part of their plan, especially to push for a unified EU military. The elites, that is.

I still am convinced that WWIII will start in Jerusalem this time, mainly from a prophetic stance.
We should let them go that want to go.
They can then start paying the full cost of ensuring their survival, instead of funneling that money into their welfare system.
We’re still in the “nation (rising) against nation and kingdom against kingdom” phase. WWIII begins with the appearance of the Abomination of Desolation in “the holy place” (Jerusalem), and that’s described as Jerusalem being “compassed with armies” in Luke 21:20—armies not as yet assembled.
Those Eastern nations SHOULD be part of an alliance to defend itself from Russia.
Especially after we spent two generations, trying to free them.
