But, That Mascot is based after an Iowa Class Battleship (OR Perhaps The South Dakotas, but the Iowas are more Famous).
While Technically they are Super-Dreadnoughts, The Iowa class was created many many years after the Dreadnought Classes had been replaced by the Fast Battleship Design.
At least they didn't use a cruiser or aircraft carrier :-)
The “super dreadnoughts” were before the Fast BBs (which started with the North Carolinas). I can’t remember if they started, for the US with the Nevada or Arizona classes. Nevadas, I think, with the all-or-nothing armoring scheme.
Technically that means the last US dreadnoughts were the New Yorks (New York and Texas)
I’ve noticed the media misusing the term ‘battleship’ an awful lot lately. I don’t think it’s an accident or a coincidence, either because it’s too many instances of it at the same time.
No idea why anyone would do this yet there it is.
