What exactly is the article wrong about?

“One block below where the manhole cover is located is the prison power plant. Look at the map of Dannemora. There are tunnels that run between the power plant and the prison. Underground in the prison is like a rabbit warren with steam, sewer pipes and wiring.”

So? They’ve only found one egress point, as far as I know, and that was opened from the inside.

“All the noisy drilling and cutting was done outside the prisoners’ cells before that night.”

Yes, just as it was in the famous Alcatraz escape, but that was still done by the prisoners, from the inside. Just because there was a lot of work involved in the escape doesn’t mean prisoners couldn’t accomplish it themselves.

The only way the escapee prisoners could have done it would be if they were trustees working down in the power plant or in the tunnels. I highly doubt these guys were trustees. One was a lifer and the other was close to it.
