Our entire world is based on carbon. We are carbon life forms.
The petrochemical industry is virtually responsible for our modern way of life we enjoy today.
That's why my comment in #2 above about Amish buggies.
These people 'hate' this industrial world. They'd be much happier as princes and princesses on steeds with the serfs in the fields.
