You forgot the ‘/sarc’ tag on your post. What happens when they defy the “polite but firm” request? That happens routinely on the street.

Well, that depends on who you're asking. The FReepertarian and PuffingtonHost set advise following up with "pretty please with cherries on top". That usually brings the most recalcitrant offender around, at least that's what I understand from their posts.

If that fails, the one thing we cannot abide is that racist nonsense they teach in every police academy in the US: take the suspect to the ground and apply the cuffs. And if a bunch of people rush you and try to lynch the suspect out of custody, you mustn't unholster your pistola. It's only issued out for appearances sake.
