Jill Dillard: "They're used to exploiting women."
In an interview with Fox News host Megyn Kelly that ran on Friday, two of the Duggar daughters who were victims of their brother’s inappropriate sexual touching called out the magazine that illegally released the records that not only revealed the identity of their brother Josh (who was a juvenile at the time), but also indirectly identified the victims.
Jill Dillard, the second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, told Kelly that she suspected there might be an agenda behind the story. “I mean, I know that the tabloids that released this, even have — you know, they’re used to exploiting women. They have the parent company –”
“Well, Bauer…they’re a major porn provider…” her sister Jessa Seewald interrupted.
“So I don’t know if they are — maybe their mindset, they’re just used to making objects out of women and maybe we just didn’t seem any different,” Seewald continued.
Jill and Jessa are members of the conservative Christian family that has been featured in the reality TV series 19 Kids and Counting, and the young women are spot on about the background of the company that publishes In Touch magazine.
Bauer Media Group, based in Hamburg, Germany, publishes 600 magazines, over 400 digital products, and 50 radio and TV stations around the world, including In Touch magazine, the publication that uncovered the story of the abuse in the Duggar home. They also traffic in porn — some of it Nazi-themed., as you’ll see on the next page.

In fact, Bauer generates dozens of legal complaints worldwide each year about invasion of privacy or libel, according to a lawyer who has frequently opposed them.
The Duggar sisters are absolutely correct. In Touch and Bauer Media Group make money, in part, by exploiting women and trafficking in content that sexually objectifies women. The young women in the Duggar family who were victims of sexual abuse by their brother were victimized a second time by a magazine that treated them, not as accidental collateral damage in their honest efforts to report a legitimate news story, but as an integral part of a business model based on sexual exploitation of women. They exploited the sexual abuse suffered by the Duggar sisters for money, pure and simple. And they’ve done it with countless other women over the years. Disgusting.
I’m completely serious. Is this something that 15 year old guys do to their five year old sisters (fondling their vaginas) that in the eyes of Josh defenders that’s just a normal thing to happen?

the bible also says all sins are equal in God’s eyes. Redemption is real and God can change a person’s heart. That sounds like what happened in this case. Most young sex abusers grow out of their abuse.

All sins are not equal from the standpoint of accountability. There were varying punishments for sin (OT) and there is even an unforgivable sin (NT). Your argument is invalid.
We would first have to establish whether or not you think this is a normal activity for 15 year old guys towards their 5 year old sister.
Plus, in the police report it isn’t clear who reported the molestation of the 5 and 8 year old daughters. But what is clear is that contrary to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s lies that “they didn’t even know it was wrong!” And “They were asleep,” the girls DID know it was wrong and these two were aware of it. It brought one victim to tears in the interview fours years after her brother molested her.
There is a really strange emotional investment many FReepers (particularly those who have NOT watched their show) have with all things Duggar. It’s like (borrowing from the left’s vernacular) a dog whistle—they hear/read then what they want to, defend the indefensible, and then blame the whistle blower.
The calling out of any one here on FR NOT in 100% lock step support of all things Duggar is kind like the Obot True Believers shouting “RAAAACISM” at any criticism of Obama...it’s all their emotional investment and they cannot be wrong.

I am talking from personal experience.
That is great to hear, but your personal experience doesn’t make your argument any more valid to me.
Not sure about a primary, but Josh (married w/4 kids and now in his late 20s) was “prepping” for a political career. The position he was fired from (on the Family Research Council) was pretty high up, so he managed to get photographed w/Cruz, Huckabee, Santorum, Palin. I do believe that many of these photo ops are just “ops” (random and part of meet and greets) but I truly believe those photos now are the partial basis for the DDL (DuggarDefenseLeague) here on FR. Rather than question the judgment of a tormented young man placing himself in public eye as a standard barer of conservatism and (for his own political brinksmanship) coozing up to Cruz et al...they attack.
Even Huckabee has walked back from all things Duggar (and he is an Arkansas homie).
Exactly. They were making themselves into a political family. Daddy tried to run for Senate and failed, so Josh was being groomed for it. The deception and attempts to sweep it all under the rug tie in more to Jim Bob’s political aspirations for the family than they do to the show. The show was useful for name recognition and generated some sizable income, but the politics were the most important thing.
My take anyway.
And their “base” would be their many true-believing viewers; fellow ATI members of the Gothard Cult; and all those Quiverfull followers. I wouldn’t be surprised if Josh had planned to run once he turned 30.
That was the question. That is why you answer it.
Of course he was going to. That is why he was at the FRC. They are in damage control mode now, but the political career seems to be torpedoed.

Another interesting aspect of their base are the people who know less about them and who just think, “Oh, nice old fashioned throw back family.”
Those people give them a huge pass.
I wondered why Jim Bob didn’t back off from Gothard when he was exposed as a molester. He’s usually pretty quick to sanitize himself when someone he is affiliated with hits a rough spot.
Now I realize he stayed tight with Gothard because Gothard knew the Duggar secret.
And Gothard probably knows more Duggar secrets.

Give me a break. There are no good guys in this story.
It may be more of a normative action in their cult for a 15 year old to confess. But I’m not sure if the confession at 15 was from Josh or the if it was the 5 year old that told on him. The police report doesn’t have pronouns and Jim Bob has lied about so much there is just no way of knowing if Josh confessed.
There is evidence that he was caught the first time, at the small house they lived in, coming out of the girls room.
