Jill Dillard: "They're used to exploiting women."
In an interview with Fox News host Megyn Kelly that ran on Friday, two of the Duggar daughters who were victims of their brother’s inappropriate sexual touching called out the magazine that illegally released the records that not only revealed the identity of their brother Josh (who was a juvenile at the time), but also indirectly identified the victims.
Jill Dillard, the second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, told Kelly that she suspected there might be an agenda behind the story. “I mean, I know that the tabloids that released this, even have you know, theyre used to exploiting women. They have the parent company –”
Well, Bauer…theyre a major porn provider…” her sister Jessa Seewald interrupted.
“So I dont know if they are maybe their mindset, theyre just used to making objects out of women and maybe we just didnt seem any different,” Seewald continued.
Jill and Jessa are members of the conservative Christian family that has been featured in the reality TV series 19 Kids and Counting, and the young women are spot on about the background of the company that publishes In Touch magazine.
Bauer Media Group, based in Hamburg, Germany, publishes 600 magazines, over 400 digital products, and 50 radio and TV stations around the world, including In Touch magazine, the publication that uncovered the story of the abuse in the Duggar home. They also traffic in porn — some of it Nazi-themed., as you’ll see on the next page.
The Wrap reported in 2013:
But an investigation by TheWrap has found that there is a darker side to the privately held company, including publication of at least one magazine appealing to neo-Nazis, as well as significant involvement in the distribution of pornography including Nazi-themed porn movies.
These lend perspective to Bauers legal woes in the United States, including a $50 million defamation lawsuit by Tom Cruise, filed last October after two U.S.-based publications alleged hed abandoned his daughter Suri. In fact, Bauer generates dozens of legal complaints worldwide each year about invasion of privacy or libel, according to a lawyer who has frequently opposed them.
The Duggar sisters are absolutely correct. In Touch and Bauer Media Group make money, in part, by exploiting women and trafficking in content that sexually objectifies women. The young women in the Duggar family who were victims of sexual abuse by their brother were victimized a second time by a magazine that treated them, not as accidental collateral damage in their honest efforts to report a legitimate news story, but as an integral part of a business model based on sexual exploitation of women. They exploited the sexual abuse suffered by the Duggar sisters for money, pure and simple. And they’ve done it with countless other women over the years. Disgusting.
Thou shalt NOT covet......... Turn your tv off and do something productive.
Did you vote for bjclinton?????? Simple yes or no will suffice.... After all old bjclinton ‘did not have sex with that woman’, and the Reverend Billy Graham cult swooned and told me Jesus said, ‘love the sinner but hate the sin’. This nation kept the crown pervert in office and reelected his criminal behind. We are reaping the seeds of bjclinton not having sex. Get over it!!!!!
I’m catching on? Sure. To what are you referring? Yes, we CAN believe what we choose. There’s a lot of room for error, and we should exhibit grace, to the extent that we can, in our dealings with one another. Don’t you agree?
What is the reason for the hope that you claim lies within you?
Out with it.
“Relative virtue on earth” won’t do — Jesus said the prostitutes were getting into heaven quicker than the religious leaders who had it all down pat.
I said your current direction is hellward.
You have yet an option to exercise to correct that.
Lol. Bout time you showed up. The rubes are restless
It was the parents choice that put them on TV, not the choice of the children. Regardless, it doesn’t give the casual, outside observer the right to be cruel and graceless.
Whether the parents did the right when this happened is certainly debatable. If it was handled incorrectly Josh Duggar can’t be blamed for that, either. That they are in the public eye, makes his victims no less victims. That someone released this information as a tool to destroy them is an ugly business to be sure.
Sure. But no grace for the wicked pretenders. At least not from me.
The truth in this family matter is was a crime committed and or was it covered up. Legalities come into play then.
If it can be determined that the tabloids/media are to blame for this development...then “shows on”.
Diverting the attention away from Josh is the name of the game here...
Frankly it should all just be forgotten...but many have a monetary stake in this family besides the family so it's going to keep being played out....and the family is willingly compliant....as they have been since the get go when they chose to exploit their family nationally and internationally as celebrities.
So do you. Although I’m thinking you think you don’t need to. Which proves my point.
In case any of my fellow Christians fail to mention it to you, God wrote in the bible that he wanted us to tell you the “good news” that He loves you.
You dismiss the healing done as inadequate, when the victims themselves say they have healed and forgive. You dismiss the separation between the boys and girls, the youth of Josh at the time, the fact that he admitted what he did and that it was wrong, the formal therapy sessions, and that he has apparently grown up to be a fine man and husband and father.
Further, you declare the victims to be unable to determine their own mental health, and the actions of the boy to indicate a permanent criminal psychosis that makes him a danger to children for the rest of his life. You look at all the work that has been done and reject it as fraud, out of hand.
And yet in support of your actions, what do you have? Simply your declarations. Your invocation of the worst types of sexual predators and criminals as equal to Josh because you say so. The invocation of the worst types of criminal enablers against the parents simply because you say so. The invocation of the most badly traumatized and emotionally destroyed rape victims against the victimized girls simply because you say so.
You seem to need the entire spectrum of inappropriate sexual interaction in the entire world to be the same - that of violent, destructive, psychotic, permanently damaging criminal rape.
It’s not.
In fact, it’s nowhere even close, especially in this situation. Whether you’re pursuing a personal vendetta based on your own trauma, a political agenda, or both, you’re simply wrong. And you’re arguing for a catastrophic disempowering of women to be able to heal, to endure ranges of difficult or negative sexual interaction with strength and understanding, and to be free from victim status without demonizing sexuality or, especially, men in general.
It’s simply NOT all permanent. It doesn’t ALL last forever. Many mistakes are made that are NOT crimes, and many crimes are committed that do NOT require permanent punishment. People ARE strong and resilient and CAN heal. Sex is NOT a monster, even though sexual monsters DO exist.
And as far as I can tell, based on ALL his actions, Josh is NOT a monster. Nor are his sisters permanently injured, in denial, in shock, traumatized anymore, or frightened of speaking the truth.
In fact, they actually all seem to love each other - for real, and I’m sorry if that upsets you, because I think that’s what angers you the most about this situation. This family pops the feminist sexual victimization meme precisely BECAUSE they healed. And the healed precisely because of the love and honesty they shared they you outrageously say never happened. You deny them the very effort they put into healing, the very genuineness and courage itself that enabled that healing to take place.
But that makes sense, because there’s no votes in that, is there?
“Sure. But no grace for the wicked pretenders. At least not from me.”
Yeah, you were pretty subtle, but I picked up on that.
That made no sense at all.
Josh as an adult chose to step in the public eye.
LOL, all I'm asking is what it would take for you to forgive Josh. What would he have to do, at this point? You damn him freely and often. So, what's the flip side?
And, if you simply cannot see yourself ever forgiving him under any conditions, say so. It will help everyone understand why you condemn him so much. No one will hate you, most will understand that's just how you feel, even if they disagree with you. But fair's fair. If you're going to constantly yell "crucify him," at least admit you will accept nothing less for his crime.
“I dont think people should have special rights just because they go on TV and their show is popular.”
No, of course not. They shouldn’t be treated differently at all, one way or the other.
I agree.
“That someone released this information as a tool to destroy them is an ugly business to be sure.”
The info came from a freedom of information act request.
"Notice howeth she graspseth my putter".
"Kids, don't try this until you're married.".
"Err, or any of you others at the public putt putt golf, or the millions watching on television."
"And NOETH! I am not a hypocrite for preaching modesty and then dry humping my wife in public and national television!"
....”why anyone would allow TV cameras and all the undesirable scrutiny that comes along with them, into their homes and expose their family members”......
That is the question isn’t it. Might be Jim Bob sees that in order to sustain his family of 19 throughout the years is going to take a lot more revenue then he can produce on his own. ....the revenue and perks which come from “celebrity” is why so many reach for it when possible to attain it.
When all is said and done it’s about revenue....getting it, keeping it and sustaining it.
