Dear, the reporter writes that Swanton referred to semi-automatic weapons, which fire a single shot with every pull of the trigger and automatically reload between shots. A double-action wheel gun does essentially the same thing. It "reloads" through a different mechanism, that's all

My guess is that either the reporter or Swanton or both failed to catch the nuance that was more likely referring to the dif between full auto and semi-auto. Because most certainly both the double-action revolver and the semi-auto essentially "automatically reload between shots" with "every pull of the trigger," until empty, that is.

But like I say, a doorknob has more brainpower than an alligator, so I get that it went over your head.

I sincerely doubt that any of the bikers were carrying single-action revolvers.

Dear, a DA wheel gun does NOT automatically reload between shots.

“I sincerely doubt that any of the bikers were carrying single-action revolvers.”

The photo I posted was not a single-action. It was an auto-loading revolver.
