Apparently, looks can kill. In a very real story that we assure you did not originate from The Onion, a terrorist from ISIS recently took a selfie of himself and posted it online.
Shortly thereafter, U.S. Intelligence, which heavily monitors social media accounts from ISIS members and supporters, managed to pinpoint an ISIS headquarters building in Syria by using the selfie photo as a reference point.

Is that that crazy science nut on the left? I know the nut in the middle. And who is the dude on the right?
He said Cherbourg (small peninsular mass extending into the E. Chanel) was surrounded and cut off. The allies didn't want to back track for it ... so they just bypassed it.
After bombing runs, some Crews returning to bases in S. England had stuff hung-up in the bomb bay or had unused stuff, they'd try to jettison it flying over Cherbourg or in the Chanel, rather than risk landing with it on borad.
Sure but trained and authorized recruiters are not going put pictures of their secret headquarters on Facebook.
An untrained Facebooker with a smart phone may even leave his GPS enabled.
That would permit a GPS guided smart bomb to detonate within inches of where that Facebook post was made.
The smart thing (extreme) would be to confiscate every cellphone from their soldiers. Not as smart (or extreme) is to go from soldier to soldier and disable the GPS on each phone. Then make it clear that anyone using social media or enabling GPS on their phone will face severe punishment. Also make it clear that spot checks of phones will be coming.
If they want individual soldiers to recruit they should have it done under the watchful eye of trained individuals.
Of course any ISIS member should disregard everything I say because I am a Kafir.
Where would you even start?

According to popular theory. We'll never know for certain.
I have read that too
gives a new definition to the phrase - " der, who me?"
I've seen one combat film of a heavy bomber having its stabilizer destroyed by a bomb from the high flight.
It nose-dived out of camera view. I doubt anybody got out.

I can buy that scenario also. It is not a coincidence that this story was released a couple of days after it was reported that American pilots were being refused permission to attack ISIS targets.
"YES! YOU DENIERS SEE! The NSA's program IS working!"
Bravo Zulu, guys and gals, but this should have been classified for a long, long time. Don’t help the enemy get smart!!!

More selfies, Muslims...

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

You’re right but this isn’t 1945.
