An Army soldier attending Artsfest on Memorial Day thought something was fishy with the Marine uniform worn by 75-year-old Robert Ford, who was strolling along Front Street.
Ford's hat bore some wrinkles, according to the soldier's assessment, and his belt buckle looked too ornate for his rank.
The soldier enlisted the help of a Harrisburg police officer working at the event, who was a Marine, and together, they accused Ford of being a fraud.
"He's not a real Marine!" the officer shouted to the crowd gathered for the PennLive/Patriot-News Artsfest of Greater Harrisburg. "Stolen valor!"
"I was humiliated," said Ford, of Marysville.

Oops. Bad mistake.
Good thing the old guy didn’t have a dog.
If I were that Marine, I would sue for slander. I would insist on a trial and accept no out-of-court settlement.
“Oops. Bad mistake.”
Mistakes can happen but his bad behavior was OTT.
Active Duty/Retiree/Vet ping.
Cop looks to be 20 lbs over weight and likely an affirmative action hire.
To bad no video.
“Embarrassed, Ford slinked away, but the men followed. When Ford stopped and turned to face them, Ford said the officer waved his hand over his holstered weapon as if he were ready to draw it on Ford.”
“The woman said the ordeal lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. She described the officer as being antagonistic and said she believed the officer was trying to get Ford to make a move.”
And the bootlickers here wonder why more and more folks consider cops to be pigs. Sorry SOB won’t even apologize.
God D**n dog face should stick to looking for other dog faces committing acts of stolen valor. As a former Marine, I find his actions to be utterly repugnant. If a police officer wanted my opinion as to the authenticity of a dog face’s uniform, I would tell I could only help if it was a Marine or former Marine or someone claiming to be a Marine.
I doubt the donut munching fat ass wanna be barney fife has ever seen a real man when he looks in the mirror.
Public apology is the only acceptable resolution.
Dummies.
Suggest he do a little research first.
Stolen Valor can wait a day or two to get one’s facts straight.
“What am I trying to do?” Ford said. “Impersonate a lance corporal who never served in combat?”
He’s got a point there.
Poor guy.

Yet another cop who does not have the judgment and mental attributes necessary to being a good, or even minimally acceptable, cop. Where do they find these dregs?
Unreal. The cop should have at least have apologized, but never should have approached the issue this way in the first place. More of this ‘shoot first’ attitude...
I think i can tell the difference with a 10 minute talk..
The difference is..do they want sympathy or help with it....
I was thinking the same thing. It’s like saying you used to hang out with the Monkees. If you’re going to lie why not say you hung out with the Rolling Stones? A 75 year old Lance Corporal? Why not a Seal?
The article says “A woman working at The Patriot-News booth, who did not want her name published, confirmed Ford’s account that the officer followed Ford and yelled that Ford wasn’t a Marine.” Another problem. People are afraid to tell the truth against cops.
Finally, some real marine needs to kick that former Army clerk typist’s ass. I’m assuming he was a clerk typist.
I am a former Marine and it wouldn’t be slander if be after, I’d be after the Army dog who attempted to rat me out and tell him he doesn’t rate to blow his breath in my presence and then proceed to dress down the “officer” like he’s never had an ass chewing before. This would be in an attempt to illicit an aggressive action and then on his back he goes.
