The Obama administration is weighing a range of aggressive responses to Russia’s alleged violation of a Cold War-era nuclear treaty, including deploying land-based missiles in Europe that could pre-emptively destroy the Russian weapons.
This “counterforce” option is among possibilities the administration is considering as it reviews its entire policy toward Russia in light of Moscow’s military intervention in Ukraine, its annexation of Crimea and other actions the U.S. deems confrontational in Europe and beyond.

What could go wrong.
I’m sure we have some old missiles available, but what they’re talking about has been overcome by cruise missiles. The advantage of cruise missiles is they can be based on a wider range of platforms and are not as easy to locate and destroy. Somebody needs to get control of the teleprompter and put in more modern threats.
This was the biggest fight of the 1980s by you guys, trying to block Reagan putting our missiles in Europe.
The anti-missile movement was partly funded by the Russians, it was part of Putin’s KGB, and was the last of the massive international communist public displays of people in the streets power.
You have Obama partly on your side now, but that might change, given Russia’s military invasion.
What can go wrong, is if Obama follows the path you desire, and allows Putin to create a WWIII, by NATO being weak, and not nipping this Russian war of conquest, in the bud.
I agree. The older launch vehicle (Pershing I and II) type missiles are frankly obsolete. Meaning, easily found and destroyed with today's UAS and satellite technology. The right response are cruise missiles from air or sea platforms.

If Obama announced that the Russians had landed on our shores and were now marching toward my mountain, I would head downtown and buy every bottle of vodka I could find.
The Russians do not scare me, it’s the corrupt homosexuals, bimbos and cowards that run our country that keep me awake at night.
I would actually like to see many of the Eastern US cities, uh, reset.
Would change the Electoral College in a positive way.
