Former Texas Governor Rick Perry will officially announce his presidential plans today from Addison, Texas flanked by an impressive group of special operations veterans. Perry is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Check out the list:
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Paul Craig
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL JJ Jones
Taya Kyle, widow of Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. history and author of American Sniper
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, author of Lone Survivor
Navy SEAL Morgan Luttrell
Retired U.S. Marine Corps Captain Dan Moran
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Pete Scobell
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor Recipient Mike Thornton
New York Times Bestselling author Brad Thor will also be at the announcement along with Melanie Luttrell, wife of Marcus Luttrell.
Late last week Taya Kyle, the widow of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, sent out an email in support of Perry for RickPac detailing her personal relationship with the governor and his wife. She will also be in attendance today.
"One of the greatest things my husband, Chris Kyle, ever did was move our family to Texas. Even though he is gone, this state that shaped his patriotism, integrity and loving spirit reminds us of him at every turn. I tend to keep my political opinions to myselfthe only candidate I ever endorsed was in a race for county sheriffbut this is different. On Thursday June 4th, Ill be in Addison, Texas, where Ill proudly stand with one of the great leaders this state and country have ever produced: Rick Perry," Kyle wrote. "I got to know Rick and Anita Perry outside of the public eye, where Ive had an up-close view of their humility and commitment to doing the right thing for people regardless of who gets the credit. Believe me, they are a breath of fresh air in a political system full of people playing games and twisting the truth. My husband may have been in the military, but no one tells me which leader to follow. Instead, I look beyond the sound bites and even minor disagreements to find who has the economic TRACK RECORD and the CHARACTER it takes to make tough choices in the face of criticism. Thats why Ill be there in person as Rick and Anita Perry discuss their future and his vision for America. Please join me and patriots like Marcus & Morgan Luttrell as we stand with our friend, Gov. Rick Perry."
The Perry for President website is already live. Perry ran in the GOP primary during the 2012 race and joins a crowded field of contenders. Perry was the governor of Texas for 14 years. He will announce at 12:30 et.
Perry's strategy is to draw votes away from Cruz, though they really do represent two entirely different factions. Cruz represents conservatives, Perry the pro-ILLEGAL alien liberal wing of the Republican Party. Perry may be effective to some degree as some Texas voters, many who frequent these pages, will vote for him over Cruz and that can open help Bush.
open = only
All hail Ricardo Perrinista!
Thank you for those insights. Yes, that answers the question.
I liked Perry too, but it’s a stronger field now. It’s exciting because our bench is so deep and talented, unlike 2012. Take a look at the dems bench, Warren is staying out of this, Bernie Sanders is psychotic, O’Malley is a good looking guy, but that’s about it and Hillary is a never was. I like our chances for 2016 as long as we don’t run Bush or Christie.
In 2016, like you I wish he wasn't running, because while he beats the heck out of much of field, Cruz (and Walker) beat the heck out of Perry.
In some ways you are correct. However, the constitution gives the requirements for running for President and definitely doesn’t limit how many can run. We are actually better off then the Democrats who have 4. Two of them are old. One is a nobody Governor and one is just a nobody Republican turned Democrat. We have a wide variety of candidates who even our worse is better then their four.
And the conservative/republican ‘purists’ will refuse to vote for ANY candidate because of a single issue or difference, claiming no one deserves their vote. . thereby allowing the demon-left to advance their agenda as usual.
The left have a divide in their party equal to the right, but the left close ranks and vote for their candidate, slowly advancing their agenda. . they may not get the candidate they want, but they will get a candidate that will incrementally push their agenda forward a little bit at a time. . .
So you are saying the ‘big money’ buys your primary vote?
Speak for yourself, please. Cruz is an excellent man and candidate and will make a remarkable president.
Oh I think I speak for the supermajority of the United States. You are in a very small minority.
Using your criteria means vets will vote for Kerry over Cruz because Kerry was a vet. (You did know Kerry was in Vietnam, right?)

No Drill Sergeant, “big money” cannot buy my vote, sir! Only the “Big Toe” can do that, sir!
Big money will be buying lots of votes this time ... lots.
All of these pol’s are vying for their own sugar daddies. It’s all about the last man standing ... screw what’s best for America.
If you think the pol’s have big egos ... think of all these super rich guys buying/supporting ‘their’ candidate. This buying of candidates is all about egos.
I got myself a POTUS!!!
So no ... maybe your vote isn’t for sale ... neither is mine. But the pol’s are being bought.
You can bet on it. Perry didn't want Cruz in Washington and he sure as heck doesn't want him in the White House.
How does that work? Wouldn't the favorite "Conservative" get the majority of the primary votes?
I could never understand how the GOP can control primary outcomes.........And control who is going to run in the primary........
Brain Freeze? Not for me when I vote for Rick Perry.

Oh no. Is Kerry running again? Obviously voters voted for President Bush who did sacrifice for his country. Your example does not make sense when one of them is not running for office.
