I wish I could agree with you. I would donate what I could every quarter. It wasn’t much, but being out of work for almost 18 months, FR was getting a lot more than other “charities” that came knocking on my door.

But, the aggressive bullying is just too much. When it is reported, the moderators do nothing. It is the same crew. They hound you until you just give up and leave.

I won’t leave because I do not tolerate that stuff in person, or on line.

Every time I go off on one of these folks I get three or four private emails telling me the same thing: They’ve gotten bullied before and they just stop posting and reading. I am sure they stopped donating too.

There should be a bully ping list that will objectively step in an demand a time out for both participants.

That is the job of a moderator. But the moderators either do not care, or they are taking the sides of their power hungry internet buddies.

FR used to be great, now...not so great.

The bullying that takes place is bad because it drives people away.

I have been in arguments with people that has spread from one thread to another. I have one posters call in other posters not related to the conversation to jump in without even reading what started the argument.

Even if you ignore these guys, they will make jump on you in other threads.

Its like having a mouth breathing half retard following you around a party, simply ruining the experience.

And the sad part is that its not even a debate. They will pick apart an argument, which is fine. But they add nothing to the conversation to reverse an argument in their favor. Then they start with the name calling and liable.

More often than not, I log out and read online without signing it because I have to take that one extra step to respond.

I am sure that now I will have the usual suspects come on and rant and rave about how its me. There are many more who know its not me because they have gone through the same thing.

You never saw this much anti-catholic BS posted here five years ago. The civil war stuff has been going on since 1865, so I don’t even read that anymore. If you are not in lockstep with certain Candidates, you cannot express an opinion. The attacks are personal and swarming.

So, for those of you who do not believe in the free expression of ideas, or a discussion of a point of view, or that respect an alternative view point...FR is now your place.

Or, we could respectfully disagree, educate each other, and perhaps learn something new from people with whom we agree with 90% of the time.

I doubt that will happen.

I give up.

I will just go play with a Sarah Palin doll and adjust the chains on the black guy in the cellar.

After that I will go find some Mormons to kick and nail a King James Version of the bible to the front door of the local cathedral.

I will pretend to fit in.

Um no. Like the religious differences, now you want to argue with me that FR is dying? OK, you win, buh bye.

LOL

You are right about the bullies and the lack of proper moderation on the religion forum.

I thought I was the only one logging out for a time and wondering if I was suffering from a wired sort of battered wife type syndrome ...

I’m sure this is a dumb questions but what does it mean the site has “unique” visitors (as opposed to just visitors)?

Not trying to be snide or anything, but if this site bothers you as much as it seems, why do you put yourself through it by coming back???

You are reading WAT too much into my comments. If you think I am sitting up at night worrying about this you are really wrong.

I am simply pointing out why I think the site has dropped in ratings. Not as many people use it because the quality of the posts have dropped, and the content of the replies used to be a lot better.

Now they are pissing contests. Who wants to read that?

Lets say you check in here in the morning, and then again at night after all of the chores are done.

You are a single unique viewer, but you have visited multiple times.

In the world of advertising they mean two very different things.

If you wish to get your “message” viewed by a lot of different people, you look for a large group of unique visitors. If your message is targeted to, say Conservative men between 34-54, you would want to target a place like this with a lot of viewers, but also with a lot of repetition.

I am sure you are aware of the term “hits.” Every page load can be considered a hit.

So, if you come to the site multiple times a day, click on a lot of pages, and come back tomorrow you are a unique visitor with a lot of “clicks” and hits. You go “deep” into the site.

Of course if you visit on your tablet, your iphone, and your PC at home and the one at work...you are four unique visitors because each piece of equipment logs as a different person. And yes, even the most basic web site can get these types of analytics.

When I was doing work with college athletic teams, I could tell when a team I just photographed was done with their practice because the visitors from the school and the town started coming in in groups as the kids got back to their rooms and logged onto my site.

Web statistics are really interesting from a marketing point of view.
