One needs to consider Obama's upbringing. Sheltered from alternative viewpoints, he never needed to develop a thick skin. It's quite natural that he would consider what, for us, are but minor scuffles and brawls over ideas as legitimate and serious threats.

He's like the wimpy kid with the protective single mom who never got out there and got dirty and muddy with other kids, never developed callouses, and never learned to be a man...

Thus, his ideological opponents are, to him, enemies...
