Rangers aren't special forces. When you pass Ranger training, you get a little tab for your shoulder and a 'V' for your job title (MOS). You're still infantry or whatever you actual MOS is.
Special Forces is an entirely different group, designated for unconventional warfare (Rangers are light infantry). SF has their own training. Ranger school is 61 days. SF training is 14-18 months. I know Ranger training allows for at least one recycle, whether due to dropout or task incompletion. Not sure how many times they allow medical failures. SF requirements I have no idea.
