The source is from the lawyer but if true then Waco is in a heap of trouble. Of course, since ATF was involved the usurper will have his revenge on Texas.
Getting curiouser and curiouser...
Don’t sign such a thing!
Contracts of a coercive nature are not binding.
“Sign over your water rights to me or I’ll shoot you and your family and burn down your ranch”, went out of vogue a long time ago.
Hmmmmm?! What are your opinions, TG?
Seems to me that could easily be broken since it would be signed under duress and not in the public interest. In fact, so coercive as to add to the final jury award once the nonsense is swept aside. And misconduct charges for the berk who thought up the concept.
At no point in history has any government ever wanted its people to be defenseless for any good reason ~ nully's son
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
Well, I got that one half right: high bails until somebody squealed.
I didn’t figure the local law would use a tactic as slimy as forcing people to sign away their rights to get out of jail.
Waco needs an enema.
This is a federal civil rights violation by itself.
Not following this closely, so can’t speak to it, but as a general rule of thumb instead of worrying about your bond being reduced, here’s an idea, don’t get involved in a biker gang in the first place.
Lay with dogs, wake up with fleas.
I rode for years, never a 1% but knew who they were and made damn sure that I wasn’t in the same locale as they were EVER. For the record, I don’t hang out where gangbangers congregate either.
Isn’t blackmail and extortion a felony?
Who’s muh lawyer? Looney.
spelled just like Justice these days.
This logic does not compute.
The judge set the bail at one million for all of them “to send a message”. Bail is supposed to be set on whether an individual is a flight risk. With this mindset if one person in a group (or pretending to be) did anything illegal, the whole group could be held without due process.
I think a very plausible scenario is that after the first report of gunfire was heard (whether the shot was fired by police or bikers) it turned into a police turkey shoot. That’s certainly happened before.
The response should be, You are official notified of an unlawful arrest. Treble damages for willful violation of rights begins today.
You say the phrase motorcycle club or gang and the expected connotation is bad people all the way around. So much our perception is based on a few biker movies starting with “the Wild One”, with Marlon Brando.
Then we had the 1960’s biker films with Jack Nicholson, Bruce Dern, Peter Fonda, Warren Oates and a host of others.
To be sure there are some bad Hombre’s out there but there are also a lot of people who like to ride from all walks of life that are law abiding folks.
Now we have a narrative of what happened in Waco that may or may not be true, lot of questions. Also we may have a number of people who are guilty of nothing more than riding bikes and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe in the course of time the truth will come out and it won’t be what is portrayed in the media.
Anything from the Court House on the bond discussion between the attorney and DA today?
Thanks.
I didn’t think you could sign your rights away like this.
