Actress Rashida Jones is best known for her work in The Office and Parks and Recreation. But her latest project, a documentary called Hot Girls Wanted, explores the amateur porn industry, which she says rakes in gobs of cash by exploiting the gullibility of young women who thirst for fame and fortune.
So much stands in the way of them and that dream, she tells Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric. And the things that stand in the way are not being fully explained to them. Their naiveté is really important as an engine for the porn industry, or at least this part of the porn industry. Thats the problem.
The film, which Jones produced, premiered at this years Sundance Festival. It takes its title from ads that commonly appear on Craigslist seeking hot girls for amateur porn, a genre whose name gives the impression that the films are not professionally produced.
The truth is, its cast, its lit, its scripted; and most of the young girls who go into amateur porn are very young, which makes it seem like they might just be the girl next door, Jones says.

There’s a documentary called “After Porn”. All of those girls have the same rap while in the business. “Empowerment...doing what they love, blah blah blah”. Then they talk to them after they leave the business and the truth comes out. Drug addiction, sexual abuse as children, etc.
Yep, she’s been there since her fall from alphabet graces. Judy Woodruff is doing online reporting, too. And then last week I saw Dan Rather had his own interview show on AXS TV on cable. Whooo!
Maybe Rashida’s next film should be about the “girls” of Isis.
Rashida Jones is the daughter of Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton. A very pretty woman. No wonder, though, that she is a liberal.
Anyone that has seen pornography knows that this is BS. Women in porn are no more than a series of holes for the male to satisfy himself with. Sorry to be crude but that's what it is. He moves her from position to position, she is passive, he does what he wants to do, she fakes "pleasure" and that's about it.
Some empowerment.
When she first started out in show business, I had no idea she was African-American until I read of her lineage. I always assumed she was a white girl with a tan.
She is stunningly beautiful.
I don't know if that's true or not (don't really care ...) am more interested in how she's exposing the porn industry and (hopefully....) preventing as many new young girls as possible from falling into its trappings.
That's a good thing, despite her political leanings wouldn't you say?
She latter regretted doing porn.
I’m guessing overdose or suicide. Hopefully I am incorrect and she finds a good path in life.
This is what happens when a girl has her ego catered to excessively. She thinks "all I need is my one big break, and I'll be a star". Instead she gets used, abused, and spat out when she's no longer young and fresh.
You see it in the dating market too. Young women thinking that "Prince Charming" will come by and marry her and carry her off to his mansion where she will live happily ever after. Meanwhile, she disdainfully ignores the guys who WILL marry her, because she doesn't see them as being good enough. Then she winds up in her late 30's, with her biological clock ringing, expecting to "settle" for one of the "nice guys" she rejected, only to find they're married and she's left out in the cold.
Absolutely. My point was more about anyone assuming that feminists don’t care about women being exploited in the porn industry.
Perhaps it will be. More likely she’d do something on Boko Harem in Nigeria and their abuse of African women.
She’s also a Harvard grad in religion and philosophy.
Bernie Sanders is out there somewhere panting...
Jewish
Don’t bother me. I’m watching “Sunset Boulevard”.
Porn Star Belle Knox Is Remaking Herself As A Libertarian Activist
College sophomore Miriam Weeks found herself at the center of an international controversy last year when she became infamous as the "Duke porn star."
Now, Weeks wants to make waves in the political world.
She's working with a libertarian group on her campus and has a burgeoning public speaking career. In a phone conversation with Business Insider on Monday, Weeks discussed how her adult film career influenced her libertarian activism.
"I think that my work and being in the porn industry definitely hits on so many libertarian themes like free speech, and censorship, and, you know, choice and autonomy over our bodies," Weeks explained. "So I think that I've really become passionate about libertarian issues because of the intersection."
1. If only she was going for useless education. It's worse. She intends to become a lawyer (at least she won't have to hide the shame of doing porn)
2. She's actually not wrong about the BigEducation racket
