could you tell why all meat prices are increasing, please

I noticed they DID increase, and have come down somewhat. I attributed the increase to high fuel costs, as most of ours comes from either the Midwest or south of here. I was not impressed when food prices in general did not go back down as much, with the lower fuel costs.

I think that question needs to be addressed to the supermarkets, and the public needs to demand lower food prices (maybe some picketing). But I doubt the grocer will give you the real answer as to why they are charging more.

The real answer is: "Because we can."

I suspect same as you are suspecting that is a ‘because we can’ attitude. Am also noticing in my local that there is an overabundance of fresh meat ‘not selling’ and suspect the losses are accumulating as was once the losses in the produce department ... With losses come increased costs to the customer. I suspect, grocers are caught up in a vicious cycle of losses both on meat and produce that is worse than ever witnessed prior ...

The reason they can is the law of supply and demand. The drought in the Midwest in 2011-2012 reduced herd levels to the lowest since 1951 (as of last year). Now many farmers are breeding more and selling less in order to build the herds back up.

Demanding and picketing the stores for lower prices seems to work well for all the 3rd World Hell Holes might as well try it here. Maybe we can get a Chavez To lead the protests?

While we are at it lets do the same for higher wages.
