On Friday, the Army is expected to announce that all the women who attempted to graduate from Ranger School had officially failed to meet the standards, according to a military source.
Ranger School, which grooms the Armys most elite special operations fighting force, opened its doors to women for the first time this year. Eight of the 20 women who originally entered the school's first co-ed class were allowed to recycle through the program after they fell out in their first go-round. The Friday announcement will confirm that this happened again.
To many, this means the system is working as it should.
The Rangers are the best of the best, and being a Ranger means passing a physical test that pushes body and mind to the breaking point. If women cant do it, the argument goes, then they shouldnt be Rangers.
But there is another opinion quietly being voiced as well: that Ranger School is more akin to a rite of passage an opportunity for men to thump their chest, as one Ranger puts it than a realistic preparation for leading in war. That women can actually make Ranger units more effective. And that the standards that keep them out are outdated.
It is an opinion, perhaps surprisingly, that comes from two current Rangers.

You can always find a few oddballs who will agree with whatever position you want to peddle. The vast majority of Ranger School graduates will not support lower of standards, for reasons that their subsequent experience in combat convinced them that the training was a positive element in their preparation to lead soldiers in combat.
I’m sure there are some women who would like to play pro football.
And if they could play, NFL teams would hire them; if they could meet objective standards, they could be Rangers. But they can’t do it unless the selection procedures are corrupted.
The only way the average chick is going to play for Green Bay, or wear that Ranger tab, is by ‘executive order’ or presidential fiat.
Obama is doing all he can to demoralize/destroy our military and hurt our country.
Yes. Standards are about to be lowered faster than you can say “President Obama supports a strong military.”
I don’t think it should change.
Men by the cartloads have failed Ranger school since day 1 and they didn’t change the standards for them. The men that fail that cna take it again, have a far better chance at passing a second time than any of these women, and they are not saying they need to change the standards for them.
I am so sick of feminism. We’re equal, but when we cannot be, we force the rules to change for us. And then brag about how equal we are.
It’s crazy. These are people who have to depend on others for their lives and haul a lot of gear around quickly under extreme conditions and stress. While its tough it isn’t even the same thing because there’s no one attempting to kill you while you qualify for the job.
If they can’t hack that, they can’t hack the real job. I don’t care what sex you are. You want the absolute best other people around you if you’re in this group.
How so?
Don't hold your breath waiting for that answer. It's also a completely irrelevant remark as female graduates of Ranger School, if they ever graduate cannot be assigned to a Ranger unit. Ranger School is a leadership training course that uses Ranger tactics and techniques as the demanding conditions for the leader development objectives.
“That women can actually make Ranger units more effective.”
Do they no long teach how to write complete sentences in journalism courses? Frankly, I’m more concerned about this than women completing or not completing Ranger school.
Ranger sex kittens? That’s the only thing I can think of them bringing to the game. They aren’t going to do any mission parameter any better than any of the guys. They have much lower lung capacity and much lower upperbody strength, and moderately lower lower body strength. They might be good shots, this might be the only place they might be able to be equal or better. Otherwise in every other area I only see them slowing things down and being a detriment to the mission.
I think other armies have shown women can be good snipers. Perhaps this might be a better avenue to test out, if we have to have appeasement but also something women can qualify for without lowering standards.
Active Duty ping.
Sorry, consensus says it’s settled. /libtard denial logic backlash
Plus they may be officers (if they exist at all).
When I used to be around a lot of active duty Navy officers during the 1990s and early 2000s, I noticed that around people, not a one of them, ever had anything to say but praise for women in the Navy, but I also never had a one of them who didn’t say it was a terrible idea, when we were alone.
Anyone who thinks that lowering standards for women is a good idea, to make them qualify as elite soldiers, or just soldiers, is ignorant of history. It has been tried with disasterous results.
Some people don’t know that unlike Special Forces, a lot of the Ranger slots are not to fill Ranger units, but instead is to scatter them among the regular troops, to spread the influence of that quality of man, leadership, and training, among the combat units and officer corps.
That is why there are a lot more tabs, than scrolls.
That hardly seems the likely role of females.
One has to admire anyone for trying. But they didn’t make it. Standards are set for a reason and these have been in place for a long time. Anyone who can’t pass - male or female - should just suck it up, move on and do something else.
LOL!
“Some (Rangers) say ...” This is a favorite rhetorical tactic of the left: “Some say”. Just vague enough.
And it sounds better than “Some shrill dykes persist in demanding ...”.
Some Rangers? Come on now that the oldest BS line in the book. I’d bet my hat no one who went through Ranger school and is tabbed said anything of the sort. This story drips of pure bovine scat.
