I think there’s a lot of truth in that.

GOPe mouthpiece Hugh Hewitt routinely featured David Dreier on his radio show. Hugh Hewitt never once mentioned to his conservative listeners that Dreier has an unconventional lifestyle that they might appreciate knowing about.

This little bit of history copied from wikipedia might be even more interesting in light of today’s news:

“Following the indictment of Tom DeLay on September 28, 2005, Dreier was widely expected to temporarily assume the position of House Majority Leader.[25] Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert favored Dreier for the position, presumably because Dreier has consistently adhered to the views of the Republican leadership and would have been willing to relinquish the title immediately should DeLay have been able to return to the Majority Leader position. However, a conference of rank-and-file Republican representatives disapproved of the choice of Dreier in such a senior position largely because many conservative Republican House members believe that Dreier is too politically moderate”

‘Hastert favored Dreier.’ Imagine that. The pink team really looks out for its own. Maybe we owe the 2005 GOP rank and file some credit.
