Most people know about the reporting law on large withdrawals. Probably not everyone is aware that there is a specific penalty for dividing up a large withdrawals to avoid the reporting,that authorities are searching for patterns of such withdrawals, and that apparently their search methods work.

He was following the law exactly. His withdrawals were always under the legal limit of 10,000. That’s what got the FBI interested, and maybe a call from “a highly placed Democrat official.”
