From datalounge.com blogs:
During the 1980s when he worked in a DC firm, his associates (partners) thought he was gay, lived with a man as well assumed to be his partner. This from one of the associates- friend of my sister’s, a very successful attorney in WA state. When his was being vetted for his appointment- my sister found this out. Astounding if true. Of course he may consider himself straight now that he has married a devout Catholic woman (in his early 40s) and they proceded to adopt a family

Roberts did pro bono pro LGBT equality work on at least one case IIRC while working at a big DC firm back in the 90s and his (I think) cousin with whom he has a close relationship is an out lesbian. Take that for whatever you think it’s worth. Personally, I think Roberts could be a 6th vote in favor of marriage equality if the case hit the Court tomorrow, if for no other reason than he wants to be on the right side of history on this social issue and he (like Kennedy) can see what history is ultimately going to say re gay rights.

Roberts was vetted by Matt Rhoades, the loser who ran Mitt Romney’s failed campaign.
