I know from the Protestant side, the problem starts in the Church and ends in the Church.

Either preach the unvarnished truth, without respect to the feelings of the parishioners, without concern for your salary, with a focus ONLY on pleasing God and Christ your Savior, or don’t preach.

If we, as pastors, would stick to that approach, we would see a revival that rivals those that happened during the early part of our nation’s history.

If we don’t, this country is lost, forever.

You are exactly right. Being a pastor today is not a position for the faint hearted. God bless!

I couldn't agree more.

As a Catholic I've seen far to many priests who were more interested in being friends with his parishioners than he was in being their pastor. From what I've been told, this is also quite common among Protestants.

Every year Catholics, Anglicans, Lutherans and many other Protestants observe the Feast of the Holy Innocents a few days after Christmas. In my opinion, few if any portions of the Gospels are better suited to a sermon regarding abortion than this, yet I don't know that I've ever heard abortion mentioned in these sermons.

If a doctor only cared about making sure his patients like him they would all have health problems and some would die unnecessarily. I don't know anyone who enjoys going to the doctor and being poked, prodded, etc., but we know we need to. Mothers typically weep when their babies are given shots, but they know that it is for the best.

Ministry is the same. Ignoring or even condoning sin for the sake of popularity endangers souls. Christians love to hear about Heaven and the eternal joy that awaits, but we also need to be told that Hell is also a very real place.
