Deer are a nuisance in ways that aren’t obvious to those who don’t live surrounded by a large population of them. Motion activated exterior lighting on your house goes on and off all night to the point that you just get rid of them. Same with motion activated exterior security systems. Garden? Forget it. Driving from dusk to dawn becomes nerve-wracking because you never can tell when one will pop out of the undergrowth and dart into the road. And, where there’s one there’s three, count on it, don’t let off the brake and accelerate just because the one cleared the road. You don’t want to collide with one, serious damage to the vehicle and they can ride up over the hood into the windshield. With enough speed, you’re seriously injured or killed.
They are a big problem here in NJ; on top of that we have Lyme Disease from them. I had it last year; I don’t believe anyone who gets it opposes removing them completely.
As NJ’s population sprawls further west & south, more and more people have to check their children for ticks every time they come in from playing in the backyard. I would find that burdensome...
