This week is a no-brainer.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz is our winner of the week for this clip of him hitting back at the Rainbow Jihad that has gone viral. As of Memorial Day, the clip had over 16,000 Facebook shares at Real Clear Politics. To put that number in perspective, Rand Paul was our winner of the week back on April 14th for this clip challenging Democrats on the life issue. Yet as of Noon on Memorial Day it had only been shared on Facebook less than 300 times via RCP.
Heres the transcript of the Cruz clip:
REPORTER: Do you have a personal animosity against gay Americans?
SEN. TED CRUZ: Let me ask a question: Is there something about the left, and I am going to put the media in this category, that is obsessed with sex? Why is it the only question you want to ask concerns homosexuals? Okay, you can ask those questions over and over and over again. I recognize that youre reading questions from MSNBC
Youre wincing. You dont want to talk about foreign policy. I recognize you want to ask another question about gay rights. Well, you know. ISIS is executing homosexuals. You want to talk about gay rights? This week was a very bad week for gay rights because the expansion of ISIS, the expansion of radical, theocratic, Islamic zealots that crucify Christians, that behead children and that murder homosexuals. That ought to be concerning you far more than asking six questions all on the same topic.
REPORTER: Do you have a personal animosity against gay Americans?
CRUZ: Do you have a personal animosity against Christians sir? Your line of questioning is highly curious. You seem fixated on a particular subject. Look, Im a Christian. Scripture commands us to love everybody and what I have been talking about, with respect to same-sex marriage, is the Constitution which is what we should all be focused on. The Constitution gives marriage to elected state legislators. It doesnt give the power of marriage to a president, or to unelected judges to tear down the decisions enacted by democratically elected state legislatures.
Not only does Cruz utilize almost all of my 10 Commandments of Political Warfare here, but he even chose to do so on an issue that has most so-called conservatives running for cover these days the Rainbow Jihad.
Yet again Cruz demonstrates a level of courage unique among most of the politicians of this cowardly age, which is why in less than three years hes gone from an underdog challenger in a U.S. Senate primary to a legitimate presidential candidate.
And its also why hes once more our winner of the week.
Thanks for posting this exchange. Missed it.
Rush played the exchange on his program.
I can’t tell you how excited I was to have somebody - FINALLY - dish it right back to the media.
Cruz (apparently) rejected the premise of the question.
That is the important first step, and he hit them hard with his rejection.
Great answer, great video.
Never defend, always attack.
You win by standing firm on your values, not by compromising with evil.
Questioning the intelligence of the interviewer is what Newt did to great advantage.. kicking DUMB around like a soccer ball can be FUN... THEN.. Steal the ball.. refuse to give it back..
Ted Cruz has been the winner of EVERY week since his campaign began IMHO.
My first choice is Col Allen West. Ted Cruz is a close second. I’ll settle for Walker.
I’ll never vote for Christy nor Bush.
Choices, we all get to make choices. Then we get to live with those choices.
This is an easy choice for me — I will vote for Ted Cruz because he is the only true Conservative in this race.
Cruz is stacking up good weeks.
Meanwhile, Walker evolves (goes to Israel to get his foreign policy chops)... and tries to stay away from the heat. — “ foreign policy chops”? I thought I was going to die laughing when I read that one on FR.
~~Cruz, OR LOSE~~
Good to see that he is keeping up his skills of a championship debater at Harvard and a winning Texas Solicitor General when arguing before the Supreme Court.
Colonel West would make a fine Secretary of Defense. Not sure he is ready for President, but I have always liked him tremendously.
Well played. My top three choices are Cruz, Santorum, and Jindal—all ardent social conservatives. Ignore our values and don’t get our votes. It’s that simple.
Nothing wishywashy about Cruz. What you see, is what you get. Love the guy!
I stand with Ted
IMHO a simple no was all that was needed.
